Early signs of pregnancy you might not expect 🤰💫

We often think of missed periods and morning sickness… but pregnancy can show up in other subtle ways, too.

You might notice:

✔️ Peeing more often
✔️ Constipation (thanks, progesterone)
✔️ Mood swings or headaches
✔️ Back pain, dizziness or even a stuffy nose
✔️ That familiar bloated feeling

These changes are often caused by shifting hormones — some as early as 6–8 weeks after conception. Not everyone experiences all of them, and they can also be signs of other things (like a UTI or blood sugar changes), so if something feels off, it’s always best to check in with your GP.

✨ Every body is different, and so is every pregnancy.

Deciding if and when to your eggs is a pretty big decision. Research shows it takes most women up to two year to actually just make the choice!
To help make things clearer, the team at the University of Melbourne and the Royal Women’s Hospital have launched a free, unbiased Egg-Freezing Decision Aid. Instead of trying to sell you a treatment, the online tool walks you through interactive exercises to weigh up costs and personal priorities, gives you real clinical facts and even builds a custom list of questions to ask your doctor.

Trials showed it genuinely cut down the anxiety and uncertainty, helping you feel totally in control of whatever you decide.

🌟Happy Friday!!
What a busy week…I thought I’d take some time to tell you a little about myself, for those who are new here.

I am a fertility specialist and gynaecologist, based in Sydney, in practice with IVFAustralia. I’ve spent the past 25 years helping thousands of people conceive.

I’m a member of the Fertility Society of Australia (FSA), and the European Society for Human Reproduction and Endocrinology (ESHRE) as well as a Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RANZCOG) Training Supervisor for the next generation of fertility specialists.

I understand the frustrations many encounter in their bid to start a family and my caring approach, plus the time I invest with my patients, means I have helped over 5000 babies come into the world.

I specialise in:
• Female and male infertility;
• Fertility preservation in oncology;
• Ovulation disorders;
• Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS);
• IUI Treatment (intra-uterine treatment);
• In vitro fertilisation: IVF;
• Endometriosis;
• Miscarriage; and
• Laparoscopic surgery.

I got my MB ChB medical degree atAuckland University, and my Masters of Medicine in Reproductive Health and Human Genetics from The University of Sydney. I completed my FRANZCOG training in Sydney at King George V Memorial Hospital for Mothers and Babies and the Royal Hospital for Women.

I then continued further sub-specialty training in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility as a clinical lecturer at Cambridge University and Bourn Hall IVF Centre, England – one of the world’s leading centres of IVF research and excellence, and where the world’s first IVF baby was conceived.

I obtained my Certification in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility (CREI) from the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RANZCOG) in 2002.

I also featured in seasons one and two of Channel 9’s ground-breaking series, Big Miracles.

Hey Everyone,

If you’re following my account, you probably don’t need reminding that October is Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month. For that, I’m so sorry. 

This month, I want to make sure you’re well supported, while we remember the beautiful little souls we’ve lost. 

I hope.you’re surrounded by people who understand your needs and wants and who love you and respect your boundaries. 

Please reach out for support if you need to - there’s no shame. I’ve put a list of helpful numbers below. Remember that we have highly-trained counsellors here at IVF Australia, and they’re free for our patients. 

Also, on October 15, International Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day, people all over the world light a candle at 7 PM local time. It creates a continuous wave of light across the globe to show families they aren’t alone. Treat yourself to a special candle and join in.
