the yogi + the corgi

the yogi + the corgi We offer fun and safe yoga + bring your dog experiences. Oh hi there, welcome! I am Kat. I am a yogi, teacher, a forever student, and lover of dogs.

I began my journey with yoga over a decade ago, and very soon knew that this was life changing. From there, I achieved my RYT200HR with Hom in Sydney training under Dice Iida-Klein and Briohny Smyth. In 2020, my life changed again with the arrival of my darling fluff monster Pickle. Like many dog parents I love my dog and want to take him everywhere. I’ve struggled to find options that welcome dog

s, whether restaurants, accommodation, and public transport. Which is why, I have several services that encourage your dog to attend and enjoy the experience together. It is so important to me to ensure that you and your dog feel safe in every environment, so please reach out for any questions.

It's Tuesday Teaching Tipping Time!

Once you've got the basics underway, it's time to continue to learn and grow your knowledge. This week's tip is how I like to study anatomy:

1. Pick one thing eg. Rotator cuff, pelvis, spine
2. Learn the muscles, bones, joints, movements, relevant exercises and common compensations
3. Spend the week deep diving and revising this every day (maybe as you travel to/from work or allocating 10 minutes)
4. Incorporate this into my weekly programming
5. Teaching this

I find it helps me cement the details into my brain and also see how the exercises translate onto bodies in front of me. Sometimes I need more than one week, so I'll continuously revise what I've learnt and add on a little more so I don't forget.

How do you study your anatomy? Got any tips for me? Let me know in the comments! 👇🏽

🎤 it's Tuesday 🎶

It's time for your this week we continue on with "voice" but using your voice.

Using your voice as a tool to match the movement you are cueing is a great skill. It helps:
- Build energy and atmosphere
- Helps clients understand when they can't see you
- Super fun

It can be as simple as:
- staccato in your voice to build tempo
- low and slow when you want to drop speed or lower energy
- going high in tone when you want to lift!

Do you use your voice to teach? Has it worked? Do you know someone who teaches like this? We'd love to hear from you!

Our next intake starts 31 October! DM to find out more as spots are VERY LIMITED ❤️

(Shout out to my vocal coach and kween JAZZY GOLD for this great tip) 🌟

It's time and this one is on looking after one thing we often forget about but is our greatest tool.

OUR VOICES

Hot tips to look after that money maker:
1. Stay hydrated
2. Consider vocal lessons or vocal training
3. Vocal warm ups before a long shift
4. Rest them sweet vocal cords

Do you do any of these? What do you think?

It's your with and ❤️

This week is a hot tip which sounds a bit obvious but sometimes forgotten. Remember to check in with clients.

What does that mean? Just ask:
- How does this feel?
- How are the springs?
- Where are you feeling it?
- Are you comfortable?
- Does this make sense?

Rather than guessing your way through a class, just ask!

Well.. that's it. What do you think? I'm just checking in!

Tuesday Tuesday Tuesday.. what would a Tuesday be without another

Beyond teaching skills - what type of teacher do you want to be? Finding your values, voice and ability to critically think is important. It won't happen overnight, but taking the time to reflect always helps.

What do you think? How are you going to become the most authentic version of the teacher you want to be?

It's Tuesday and it's another but this one is a bit of a longer convo on the heated Pilates war at the moment.

As a new instructor, it's a lot. People arguing over what is Pilates, what isn't Pilates. Negativity when you post or do something different to maybe how someone else would approach it.

Making content is a necessary tool to market and promote yourself as an instructor. So, just know and we got your back.

❤️ it's ok to do things differently ❤️ keep learning ❤️ stay a student ❤️ critically think ❤️ stay true to the instructor you want to be ❤️

Where do you stand on the Pilates beef? 🐮

It's that time again!

Today is: be kind to yourself ❤️
Teaching is a tough job. It takes a lot of vulnerability and work. Being in front of people leads to judgement and there will be some good and some not so good. Just remember when it comes to feedback:

- keep an open mind
- stay professional
- discern what is truly valuable to you
- how could you apply this feedback
- it's going to be ok

It's hard especially if you love what you do and want to do the best job you can - just take it step by step and know we've all been there.

Been here before? We'd love to hear from you ❤️ let us know in the comments 👇🏽
