Somewhere along the way, connecting with Spirit got confused with restriction. Some cultures teach that you're inherently a sinner, so you must abstain from anything that grants freedom to be unruly, or indulgence to feel pleasure. The more you deny yourself, the closer you may get to something sacred, if you happen to buy into the belief that one day you may be pure enough to touch God.

Ta**ra has never bought into this notion. It never asked anyone to give up pleasure to reach the divine, to touch God, it asked people to actually feel it. Fully. Without guilt and shame getting in the way first. In fact, the feelings of guilt and shame and suppressing them, become the very obstacles to feeling divinity.

Scent does something thought can't. A smell reaches you before you've decided how to interpret it. For a second, there's no thinking self standing between you and the moment, there's just the moment. Ta**ra has a word for that brief dissolving, vishranti, restful awareness.

That's the practice, most days. Not a big ceremony. Just letting one thing hold your full attention for once, instead of splitting it eleven ways like usual.

You don't need incense and mantras to feel sacred. Sometimes it's just a flower, and actually being there with it.

The tantrika embraces her senses as doorways to the divine. The senses exist because of sensory organs in our animal bodies, organs that receive information from the universe to understand how to connect with it and move through it.

We began as animals, and remain animals still, finding our way through survival, our sensory systems perceiving our immediate environments. As evolution unfurled, the senses expanded to widen our perception. Why?

Ta**ra holds that the divine exists in all things. With this in mind, what came first? The divine already existing in full knowing of itself and simply developing curious instruments to perceive itself, or the divine developing as its creation unfolded, finding new ways to know itself?

On the one hand, the senses aren't creating divinity, they're refining the resolution at which divinity can perceive itself. A leopard's eyes evolved for the hunt, but from this view, the hunt is a training ground for finer and finer instruments of awareness.

On the other hand, the divine is continuously unfolding, becoming, discovering itself alongside its creation, the way a dancer only knows what dance is by dancing it. The divine is happening, right now, through your senses, through the animal, through every nervous system that's ever perceived anything. Genesis in real time.

Kashmir Shaivism and Shakta Ta**ra hold that it is both: the divine eternally complete, and endlessly recognising and expressing itself through form. The senses are sacred because they're how the universe knows itself, and it doesn't much matter for practice whether that knowing was always complete or is still becoming.

Either way, the sensory body is where the encounter happens. Survival taught the eye to see; wonder taught the eye to see beauty. Same organ, expanding function, same continuity from animal instinct to mystical perception.

Energy is already connecting between us before our skin ever touches.

When two people come together with real presence, something ignites, an exchange ta***ic tradition calls kundalini, a rising current of energy said to travel the body's inner pathways. Conscious lovers who make love slowly, breathing together, tracking sensation rather than rushing anything, often describe this energy climbing higher than the body itself, reaching beyond its edges.

Some speak of warmth spreading through the chest. Others describe their awareness sharpening, expanding, this energy reaching what ta**ra calls the third eye, said to open into flashes of light, colour or a sense of seeing beyond the physical altogether.

This isn't guaranteed, and it isn't the goal. But it points to something ta**ra has always known: intimacy, met fully and with presence, can become a doorway. A single spark, allowed to build without rushing toward release, can become an entire flame.

Slow down. Let the spark linger before it catches.

Powerful love doesn't stay contained between two people. It pours forth in surging waves, spilling over the edges.

In ta**ra, this kind of love is called ananda, bliss so complete it dissolves the edges of who you thought you were. Romance becomes a pulsing and intoxicating current, moving through the body, opening you toward something much greater than yourself.

The ocean has long been a symbol for this in Ta**ra. Vast, unbound, indifferent to where one wave ends and the next begins. To love like this is to stop safeguarding the shoreline of yourself and let the water wash in, bathe you, strengthen your heart and expand your capacity to love.

This is the invitation ta**ra offers lovers: pleasure through surrender, trust in opening as a path to cultivating greater power within you. This kind of love brings profound connection, but also dissolution, into each other, into the moment, into something that was always bigger than either of you.

Bliss like this asks for courage. To be witnessed fully, to let desire move without shame, to trust that dissolving doesn't mean disappearing or diminishing. It means becoming part of something vast and stunningly majestic.

We spend so much of life searching for reflection in others. Their approval, their attention, their reactions, held up as proof of who we are. It's an easy habit to fall into, and an exhausting one.

Because a reflection borrowed from someone else assumes you'll stay as who they last saw. It doesn't always leave room for who you're becoming, and it sits with them, not you.

The deeper practice is becoming your own mirror. Looking directly, without needing someone else to confirm what you find.

Asking simply: what does it mean to be me?

Not what personality I perform for others. Not who I'm reflected as through their eyes. Who I am, held up to my own light.

This takes more courage than seeking reflection elsewhere. Other people's mirrors can be softened, distorted, shaped by their own need to see you a certain way, a need for you to play a role they want you to fulfil. Your own reflection asks for what’s real. It's the start of a relationship with yourself that actually upholds who you're becoming.

You don't need to find yourself in anyone else's eyes. Turn the mirror inward, see clearly, and own entirely who looks back.

Dakini means sky dancer, sky goer, she who moves in space. Dakinis are symbols of enlightenment, protectors of wisdom, ones who open the gates of wisdom, dynamic in their essence, precise in their focus.

The word itself comes from the Sanskrit "daka", to fly. "Ini" is the feminine derivative. The dakini is not earthbound, not fixed or tethered to one form.

Like a feather, light enough to be lifted by the subtlest current of wind. Like the bird, free to fly, dive and land where it pleases.

This is what the dakini embodies and teaches: wisdom that isn't static, snatching or limited, but spirited, versatile and flowing. She appears where she's needed, dances through boundaries to make a message known and vanishes before she can be caught.

To walk this ta***ic path is to learn this kind of way within yourself. A wildness, precision and freedom, a relationship with yourself where you trust your own flight path even if you don’t fully know what’s ahead.

With White Dakini, one woman began offering a transmission to any who sought her guidance, an open mind, heart and hand to whoever was ready to receive what she had to give.

Over years, she took in student by student who felt called to work with her and expanded her practice. She trained them in the ta***ic arts, teaching them to fly on their own current, to find their own wings within the practice influenced by a fusion of Vajrayana, Shaivism, and Shakta ta***ic traditions.

One dakini became several and prompted the need for an expansive new direction, the house for the dakinis to dwell and share their wisdom. And so Dakini House was born, the home for embodied wisdom and ta***ic initiation.

We carry the name of dakini because she was never meant to be still. She moves, evolves, she guides, she evades capture just as you think you've caught her, and in her place, she leaves behind the tailwind inviting further growth for those ready to deepen and carry the wisdom further.

This is what we offer. Not a static teaching, but a living lineage, passed hand to hand, wing to wing.

There's a misconception in modern ta**ra that a man is to embody the ultimate Shiva archetype and a woman, the ultimate Shakti, and that sacred sexuality is the merging of the two genders to create sacred union, the merging of souls into oneness.

It's a Western interpretation of ta***ic ideologies based on a face-value reading of ta***ic iconography. This flattens Shiva and Shakti into a simple notion that seems easy enough to follow, but it can mislead and skew how energy wants to flow naturally.

In Shaiva and Shakta ta***ic traditions, Shiva and Shakti are not separate from each other, nor are they paired with genders. Rather, humanity outlined them in this way as a means of trying to understand the divine powers at play that ultimately come from the very same source. Shiva and Shakti are two principles of divinity, present within everything.

Shiva is consciousness itself. Still, aware, unmoving. The witness behind all experience. In ta**ra, he is described as the static principle, pure unconditioned consciousness, inert until stirred into motion.

Shakti is energy in motion. She is the kinetic principle, the force that moves Shiva from stillness into action. Without her, consciousness has no expression.

The two are in constant cocreation. There is never consciousness without energy, nor energy without consciousness, they are held in constant, indivisible union.

This is where two schools of ta**ra offer slightly different emphasis:

In Shaivism, Shiva as pure consciousness is held as the ultimate ground of being, with Shakti as his dynamic expression in the world.

In Shakta Ta**ra, this is reversed. Shakti is honoured as the all-pervading reality herself, the source from which even Shiva draws his power to act. As the tradition holds, if Shiva is united with Shakti, he is able to create; without her, he cannot even stir.

Neither view removes the other. Both agree: consciousness and energy exist as one, inseparable, in every body, in every being.

You hold both Shiva and Shakti within you. Stillness and movement. Awareness and aliveness. The one who witnesses, and the one who moves. And so does any lover you might wish to connect with. Understanding this intricately actually brings liberation.

Throughout history, women have battled societal constraints and patriarchal religious structures to reclaim sovereignty, striving to embody their sensual, wild and blissful nature without fear of punishment or predation. From suffragettes fighting for political agency to activists advocating for bodily autonomy, women have challenged norms and shattered stereotypes. Despite facing discrimination and oppression, they continue to resist through self expression, art, activism and everyday acts of defiance, refusing to be confined by outdated expectations.

Reclaiming the goddess within is a journey of self-discovery and empowerment. It begins with diving into your innermost fears, desires and dreams, peeling away layers of conditioning to uncover your true essence. This path asks you to recognise the divine spark that ignites your soul—to connect with the primal energies and unique archetypes residing within you.

The journey unfolds through experiences that challenge you, forcing confrontation with your limitations and embrace of your vulnerabilities. As you embody your authenticity, you begin to radiate the qualities of the goddess: strength, compassion, sensuality and wisdom. You learn to trust your intuition, honour your emotions and stand in your power unapologetically. With each step forward, you inspire others to embrace their own inner divinity. Finding your inner goddess means embracing the limitless potential within you, allowing yourself to shine brightly and live with grace and purpose.

In a world dominated by masculine drive and force, moments of quiet, softness and subtlety allow the feminine to emerge as counterbalance to life's chaos. Through her, you regain sovereignty of soul. Your deepest pleasure is intimately tied to these gentle qualities. In peaceful reflection, in the beauty of nature or in the intimacy of nurturing connections, you discover the value of tenderness and delicacy. The path to true bliss is revealed in life's subtleties.

The power of the dakini is that she doesn't conform, she guides, inviting the aspirant on wild whims of wisdom, purely because she infuses instinct with intuition; the animal with the spirit.

Her eye as sharp as the tiger's, ready to pounce when the opening presents.
Dakini House is launching soon, a home for those ready to walk the ta***ic path of courage, connection and deep presence.
