Cryotherapy is coming back to our surgery very soon.

What can you use cryotherapy on:

Actinic keratoses
Seborrhoeic keratoses
Viral warts
Molluscum contagiosum
Skin tags

Cryotherapy is an effective alternative to more invasive treatment options as it is inexpensive, simple, relatively safe, and can be performed quickly in the surgery.

I’ll keep you posted to when our liquid nitrogen has been delivered and we can start offering this service.

June is Bowel Cancer awareness month

Bowel cancer is preventable and treatable

Bowel cancer claims the lives of 103 Australians every week (5,372 people a year) – but it’s one of the most treatable types of cancer when detected early.

While the risk of bowel cancer increases significantly with age, the disease doesn’t discriminate, affecting people of all ages.

286 Australians will be diagnosed with bowel cancer this week (14,904 people a year).

Order a bowel cancer kit, if you are not already enrolled in the program. Click the link πŸ‘‡

Why do the free bowel cancer screening test? Bowel cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death in Australia with millions screening for the disease every year.

The entire month of May is Cystic Fibrosis Awareness Month. But on this day it is marked by 65 Roses Day 🌹

The term 65 Roses has become a powerful symbol of CF, representing strength, resilience and the voices of children and families living with this condition.

Cystic fibrosis (CF) is a genetic, life-limiting condition causing thick, sticky mucus to build up in the lungs and digestive system, leading to chronic infections, breathing difficulties, and poor nutrient absorption. It is caused by a mutated CFTR gene, usually inherited from both parents. While no cure exists, treatments like airway clearance and medication allow many to live into adulthood.

National Sorry Day, 26 May, is a day to acknowledge the strength of Stolen Generations Survivors. It also commemorates the landmark report titled Bringing Them Home, which explored the forced removals of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children from their families. The first National Sorry Day was held on 26 May 1998, on the one year anniversary of when the Bringing Them Home report was tabled in Parliament.

Significance of National Sorry Day
National Sorry Day provides an opportunity for us as a society to acknowledge historical wrongs committed against Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples through forced removal and to recognise the intergenerational trauma and ongoing impact these policies have had.
