Knee pain isn’t always just a knee problem.

Sometimes the way your hip, pelvis or foot is moving changes the alignment of the leg and puts more load through the knee.

For example, if the hip drops in or the foot rolls in too much, the knee may end up collapsing inward and working harder every time you walk, squat, run or go downstairs.

So if your knee keeps getting sore, it can be worth looking at the whole chain — not just the painful spot.

Sometimes the knee is just the middle man.

Back pain isn’t always a “back” problem 👀

Sometimes the painful spot is simply the area working overtime to compensate for something else.

If you keep stretching or treating the same spot and it keeps coming back, it may be worth asking: why is that area working so hard in the first place?

Hip pain doesn’t always mean the hip is the problem 👀

In Jacqi’s case, we assessed the hip itself -but then kept looking.

By checking how the rest of her body was moving and seeing what changed her symptoms, we were able to identify a different area that was contributing to her hip pain.

That’s why we don’t just treat where it hurts.

The goal is to work out why that area is being overloaded in the first place — so treatment can be directed at the actual driver of the problem.

If you’ve had hip pain that keeps coming back despite stretching, strengthening or treatment to the hip, it may be worth looking beyond the painful area.

When the exercise demonstration turns into a live balance assessment 😂

Maybe we’ll start with the easier variation…

No shortcuts when it comes to your rehab 😅

Your exercises are where the real progress happens—consistency matters, even when your physio gives you an “easy way out.”

“My exercises help, but only temporarily.”

Physio brain immediately starts asking:

Is the exercise challenging enough?
Is the technique correct?
Are they doing too much or not enough?
Are we only treating the symptom?
Is there another contributing factor we have missed?

Temporary relief is still useful information, it may mean the program needs adjusting rather than abandoning altogether.

When someone says, “My scan is normal, so my pain must be fake…”
Every physio watching: 😐

Normal scan ≠ no pain.
Pain is real, even when imaging doesn’t show the full picture.
