Going home doesn't mean going it alone. 💙

Recovering at home after surgery can be wonderful – but it can also bring questions, concerns and moments when a little reassurance makes all the difference.

Getting back to the things you love 💙

After a hip replacement, Samantha in Sydney received physiotherapy from Vitalis in the comfort of her own home.

Her physiotherapist, Jose, developed a program around Samantha’s recovery and the space she had available – from inside the house to her deck – while helping her understand what to expect during the ups and downs of recovery.

“Home care made my major surgery and recovery at home positive and I looked forward to my Physio sessions,” Samantha said.

Now Samantha is back to extended walks and weights, with Pilates coming soon and golf hopefully only a few months away.

For us, that’s what rehabilitation at home is ultimately about – not just recovering from surgery, but helping people regain their confidence, independence and the activities that matter to them.

Meet Harshad. 💙

Harshad is a devoted husband and father who has been supported by Vitalis for the past year and a half.

His Vitalis team helps with personal care, physiotherapy and exercise, rehabilitation appointments, companionship, nursing and everyday tasks around the home. But for Harshad, the difference goes far beyond the practical support.

“It just makes me feel a lot more alive. It’s like you’ve got wings,” he says.

Harshad also knows that his team will respond when it matters. Recalling a time when he urgently needed help, he says a Vitalis nurse left a family function to support him.

“She just said, ‘All right, I’m coming.’ She came and helped me out that day. Otherwise, it would have been a lot worse.”

That sense of security helps Harshad feel more capable and positive – something that matters deeply to him as a family man.

When Harshad is happy, he says, he can share that happiness with his wife and child. We’re proud to play a part in helping him maintain that warm atmosphere around the people he loves.

Vitalis partners with health funds to deliver our industry-leading Virtual Hospital Program. Through a combination of remote monitoring technology and in-person care, we are able to deliver the outstanding results highlighted in the image below - as stated in our patients' own words.

A team of exceptional, experienced, empathetic and highly trained registered nurses are at the heart of the Vitalis Virtual Hospital Program (VVHP). They not only provide medical support and guidance by phone, but also become a trusted part of each patient's medical team.

Here's what one patient, Prue, had to say about VVHP nurse Roopa:

“Roopa is so wonderful. I’m really not a person who would talk to somebody about my health, but Roopa is very kind and very knowledgeable. She takes the time to find out about patients and find out what they had. I had a quadruple bypass and atrial valve repair and she understood all of that and then I could talk to her on that level. For me, it was really easy to talk to her.”
