Beach2Beach is fast approaching, and Newport Surf Club is gearing up to be part of the excitement. Whether you’re keen to run, walk, or lend a hand behind the scenes, this year’s event is a great opportunity to get involved.

As one of the Northern Beaches’ most iconic community days, Beach2Beach brings together local organisations, families, and supporters — and we want Newport Surf Club members right in the heart of it.

Ways to Get Involved
Take part in the event Represent the club on the course and enjoy the energy of this much‑loved community run/walk.
Volunteer at the Finish Festival We are seeking volunteers to assist with welcoming participants, providing first-aid, finish line water station, supporting festival activities, and helping with general Finish Festival event operations.

Why It Matters
Volunteering at the Finish Festival is a great way to connect with fellow members, support a major local event, and contribute to a positive experience for thousands of participants. It’s also a chance to highlight the values that make Newport Surf Club such an important part of our community.

Volunteers Needed

The season is about to kick off with our annual Beach to Beach. All volunteers on the Sunday will be put onto a volunteer patrol for the morning, so if you are hungry for hours or just want to be part of a fun morning please sign up.

All members volunteering need to be in patrol uniform.

Busy weekend for our club. Emma Carrol and Bec Capell attended the NSW 2026 State Surf life Saving conference at Mascot this weekend where we had the opportunity to discuss the future of Surf Life Saving with other clubs . It was good to feel that our club is ticking many boxes that other clubs are working towards. This is thanks to years of positive leadership from previous board members and ambitious club members putting us in a great position.

Then on to our AGM where we acknowledged Scott McAlpine with an Outstanding Service Award, Brendan Capell and Allen Janssen with Distinguished Service Award.

Congratulations to Guyren Smith being voted in as a new Life Member. Very well deserved for everything he does and continues to do for the club

CanToo's Spring Swim Fit program is 14 weeks and a great way to increase distance in the pool, improve swim skills and be ready to get in the ocean in our Newport CanToo Summer Ocean Swim pod.

The State government and SLSNSW have over the last few days announced a large increase in drone surveillance of our beaches.

For Newport this means that the coverage that has been in place will continue and will be flying roughly between dawn and dusk on an ongoing basis.

When we have patrols on the beach our lifesavers and lifeguards will have radio access to the operators to be able to get updates and information.

During the months when we don't have lifeguards or lifesavers on the beach the best way to get updates from the drones is to access the SharkSmart web site and to download the SharkSmart app on your phone.
