The NSLHD Aboriginal Health Service (AHS) page isn’t the place to get one-on-one help. The moderators don’t have access to clinical files or capacity to offer crisis support. If you, or someone you know, needs urgent help the best options are:

the Mental Health Line on 1800 011 511. Calls are answered 24/7 by a clinician who can offer support and connect you with services.

The NSLHD AHS page aims to increase community awareness about local services, events and health promotion information that may benefit Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. It is a platform to encourage individuals to access beneficial services and engage with our partners and stakeholders. When participating in this page please be respectful of all points of view, and refrain from personal attacks on other users. NSLHD AHS will remove any posts, comments or content that:
• violate the privacy or confidentiality of a client/patient/consumer, family/carer, or staff member – this is not the place to be naming names
• are racist, sexist, ageist, discriminatory, obscene, or use graphic sexual language
• are likely to be offensive to others
• promote or discuss methods of self-harm or su***de
• are dogmatic, such as setting out courses of action as “the only way”
• are defamatory, or overly critical of services or organisations that provide help to others
• for any other reason is likely to cause harm / distress to others reading the story
• are posted for commercial purposes
• promote advice that is considered to be inaccurate, inappropriate or harmful. If you see anything on the NSLHD AHS page that concerns you, including the things listed above, or content that breaches your privacy or intellectual property rights, please email us at
[email protected]. We’ll check it out and take the action we think is appropriate. If you are not happy with the response you receive from us, you can use the report function that Facebook provides. People who fail to follow the page rules will be warned twice, and then blocked for a time period if the breaches continue. The exception to this is if the content is extremely offensive, in which case they will be blocked immediately. NSLHD AHS takes no responsibility for comments on our page, or any interactions followers may have on or off our page. NSLHD AHS page is checked Monday to Friday, 8am-4.30pm. We don’t check the page in the evenings, over the weekend or on public holidays.
