Your discomfort keeps coming back. Does that mean the treatment didn't work?
Not necessarily.
Massage can provide worthwhile relief, even when that relief doesn't last as long as you'd hoped. But I think there's another question worth asking.
What happens during the rest of your day?
Perhaps you spend hours at a desk.
Maybe your work involves repeated lifting, reaching or standing.
Or you're trying to manage physical demands without enough opportunity to recover.
These things don't automatically explain why you're in pain. Recurring discomfort can have several contributing factors.
But they are worth discussing.
At IKKYU, I want to understand what happens between appointments, not just what feels uncomfortable when you arrive.
What does your body need to manage every day?
What movements matter to you?
What can we realistically work on together?
I'm Shigy, a Japanese Remedial Massage Therapist based in St Leonards.
If you've been dealing with the same discomfort for a while, perhaps it's worth having a different conversation about your body.
