Celebrating Connection at the Mother’s Day Brunch
AB Central came alive with laughter, music and meaningful connection as local mothers and seniors gathered for the 2026 Mother’s Day Brunch on 6 May.
Delivered by the Sydney South West Community Renewal and Tenant Participation Team, the event welcomed 61 community members from Airds and Bradbury for a relaxed afternoon focused on celebrating mothers, strengthening friendships and bringing people together in a warm and welcoming environment.
The day featured a shared lunch, live entertainment, and a flower arrangement workshop that gave attendees an opportunity to connect, create and enjoy quality time together. Community members shared stories over lunch, participated in activities and enjoyed performances throughout the afternoon, including a special song performed by local mothers and daughters.
The event was proudly co-designed alongside community partner Our Lore, helping create a space that reflected connection, inclusion and community spirit. Feedback from attendees was overwhelmingly positive, with many commenting on how wonderful it was to meet new faces, reconnect with others and simply enjoy each other’s company.
The event also highlighted the value of place-based community activities in building belonging and reducing social isolation, particularly for seniors and local mothers. Staff collaboration, strong community engagement and a welcoming atmosphere contributed to the success of the day.
The Mother’s Day Brunch continues to demonstrate how simple, meaningful activities can strengthen community connection and create positive experiences for local residents.
