Tuesday thoughts πŸ’š

Today was one of those days that reminded me why I love what I do.

I helped people with shoulder pain, supported recovery after sporting events, worked with clients experiencing low back pain, and listened to what was going on in their lives.

Because massage therapy isn’t always just about the muscles.

Sometimes people need someone to listen, a safe space to switch off, and an hour to focus on themselves.

I’m grateful that I get to help people feel a little better - physically and mentally - every day.

How was your day? If you’re looking for a massage spot I might be able to squeeze in 30 minutes here and there in the next two weeks otherwise I have an hour available on 24 August. After that some limited availability for the first week of September and limited availability later in that month

Saturday Stretch - Three-Legged Downward Dog:)
And just like that, we’ve reached the final photo in my holiday series 🀎

I couldn’t resist finishing with a stretch that combines strength, mobility and a little bit of fun! Keeping supple as well as strong and mobile should be one of our goals as we age.

This is a variation of Three-Legged Downward Dog, I’ve used the bench to elevate one foot. It’s a great way to challenge your balance while opening up the hips and stretching through the back of the legs.

Benefits include:
β€’ Stretches the hamstrings and calves
β€’ Opens and mobilises the hips
β€’ Strengthens the shoulders, arms and core
β€’ Encourages spinal length and mobility

It also reminds us that stretching (and exercise in general ) doesn’t have to happen in a gym or studio. A park, a bench and a few minutes are all you need.

Hope everyone is having a wonderful Saturday. It is a gorgeous afternoon back in Sydney. This week I have cancellation availability only. οΏΌ Please message me if you would like a cancellation spot. I have one or two spots left for August (on the 24th) and September is filling up. Please book ahead if you want an appointment.
I’ve also started taking appointments until the end of the year (18 December)

Good morning Thursday πŸ’— it is chilly out today but a walk is always a wonderful way to start the day:) still some gorgeous magnolias in bloom to add a bit of winter colour.

My first week back post winter holiday has been very busy indeed with a wonderfully full schedule. It’s been so lovely to see all of you booked in so far this week and I have a couple of busy days ahead.

I’ve been working on my schedule for the year and just a quick update if you’re reading this that I will be closing for Christmas on 18 December. I’ll also be shut for a short spring break for a few days mid October.

If you can, please book ahead if you prefer a particular day and time πŸ’— a quick heads up that December appointments are for a maximum of 60 minutes due to limited availability.

This month I do have some availability on Monday, 24 August and cancellation spots on other days. Feel free to text. As always, if you need to cancel, let me know as soon as possible so I can put someone else in
Have a beautiful day and stay warm:)

Wednesday wellness

Your body often tells you you're stressed before your mind does.

Tightness in your jaw, neck, and shoulders is one of the first signs that your body is carrying more than it should. Left unchecked, this tension can contribute to:
Headaches and migraines
Neck and upper back pain
Poor posture
Restless sleep

Fortunately our bodies are incredibly adaptable:)

Becoming aware of where you hold tension is the first step. Regular movement, stretching, mindful breathing, and therapeutic massage can all help release tight muscles, calm your nervous system, and help your body return to a more balanced state.

Listen to what your body is telling you - it often whispers before it shouts.

Is your body whispering, speaking or shouting at the moment?

Saturday stretch … Dead Hang / keeping strong on holiday is vitally important for me so every day I start the day with 20 push ups and then try to find playground equipment to play around on while out and about.

One of my favorite stretches (I also do this at home inbetween clients) is the dead hang. Have you tried it?

Improves Grip Strength πŸ’ͺ
Grip strength is a strong indicator of overall health and functional fitness. A stronger grip makes everyday tasks easier and supports healthy ageing. (Think of opening that jar of peanut butter without help 😁)

Strengthens Shoulders & Improves Mobility πŸ’›
Hanging helps strengthen the muscles around the shoulders while gently decompressing the shoulder joints, promoting better mobility and resilience. (This is great for your rotator cuff)

Supports Better Posture & Spinal Health πŸ₯°
A dead hang can gently decompress the spine after long periods of sitting, helping relieve tension in the upper back and encouraging better posture.

If you’ve never done a dead hang before, just aim for a few seconds, feet off the ground only a cm or 2.
