This week in my workshops, we’ve really dug into the idea of ritual and having a pick and mix of practices.
Sometimes, I love my morning ritual to be still and soft, yet sometimes, when my body feels more jittery, sitting still is the last thing I need.
In those moments, find that the most helpful practices are the ones that invite me to move. Walking meditation has become one of those practices for me.
I let the movement of my body become the meditation. I notice the ground beneath my feet, the rhythm of my steps, the air on my skin and the world around me.
I listen, I feel, I see.
And sometimes, I take a cacao with me. 🤎
The warmth of the cup in my hands, the richness of the cacao, its earthy aroma and the sensation of each sip bring more of my senses into the experience.
It gives me more to connect with, more to notice, and more opportunities to experience this present moment in its entirety.
I love that meditation doesn’t have to look one particular way. Sometimes we find presence through stillness. Other times, we find it through movement, sensation and our connection with the world around us.
There is something beautiful about allowing a practice to meet you where you are, rather than expecting yourself to meet the practice.
What helps you come back to yourself when you need it most?
P.s, the cacao I love is Creation Cacao - Ceremonial Cacao and this beautiful blue cup is one from Handmade Ceramics Sydney at Manly Markets. It’s my special Creation Cacao cup.
I also have a special cup for tea only and one for my decaf coffee only too. It just elevated these moments that little bit more. 🤍
