Tradies National Health Month is the perfect reminder to take care of your mental health.

Did you know reducing stress can also reduce the risk of physical injuries for tradies on the job? Not dealing with stress can cause it to build up over time and could lead to serious health issues.

Here’s what mental health experts and former tradies, Lachlan and Giles, suggest as ways to handle your stress better:
- protect your downtime – use it to exercise or do something to relax
- unplug after work and get out in nature
- make time for hobbies
- reach out and talk to a mate.

If you need to talk to someone immediately, the Mental Health Line is open 24/7 on 1800 011 511.

Is it actually better to let your immune system ‘fight its own battles’ like Dwight suggests in The Office?

Dr Bec explains why Dwight’s advice is problematic in real life.

Vaccines protect you from infections without exposing you to the dangers of the disease.

It’s not too late to get your winter flu vaccine. Support your immune system by booking your flu vaccine with your doctor, local pharmacy, or Aboriginal Medical Service.

You can find your nearest vaccination provider here: healthdirect.gov.au/nswfluvaccine
