Dr Edward Lewis, Acting Head of Rehabilitation Medicine, appeared on Channel 7’s Sunrise program to reveal new figures that show a 22 per cent increase in e-bike injuries year-on-year.

St Vincent’s Hospital Sydney treats a range of injuries, from mild scrapes and strains to bone fractures, internal bleeding, deep tissue wounds and traumatic brain injuries.

There were 361 patients who presented to the hospital for e-bike injuries between January and July 2026. Dr Lewis said some required emergency surgery and ended up with life-long disabilities.

“Our message is one of safety: take your time on the bike, wear a helmet, don’t ride while impaired and be extra cautious at night.”

🧠 What if caring for your brain today could help reduce your risk of dementia tomorrow?

St Vincent’s Hospital Sydney is trialling an Australian-first Brain Care Clinic, supporting people with modifiable risk factors for dementia.

Through a free, personalised eight-week program, patients receive support to make changes across areas including sleep, diet, physical activity and blood pressure, alongside support from a neurologist, physiotherapist and occupational therapist.

After taking home the win at the Killa Boxing Marrickville Cancer Fight Night, held in partnership with Berry Buzz Café, William Bogatyrov chose to donate his entire $5,000 prize to St Vincent's Hospital Sydney.

The donation honours the care and support his family received throughout their cancer journey, as well as the dedication of the doctors, nurses and staff who were there every step of the way.

Thank you William, for turning a personal victory into something that will help others. 👏
