A long time ago I came across a now somewhat popular meme that describes seeing a person at a coffee shop with no smartphone, tablet, or laptop, just sitting there drinking coffee like a psychopath… 😆 it stuck with me.

Somewhere along the way, we decided every gap needs to be filled.

But boredom is often where imagination, creativity & calm sneak back in. Sometimes even moments of clarity. When we let our mind “just be” it’s amazing what it can do for us - including settling our nervous system, showing us new insights or bringing to our attention what really matters.

Practicing boredom really isn’t that boring

I know it doesn’t make sense…
One minute, we’re hanging out laughing, and the next I’m stomping off to my bedroom and slamming the door because of one random thing you said.

I roll my eyes when you ask about my day.

I complain and accuse you of trying to control me when you ask too many questions (which is usually one or two).

And, I sometimes cringe when you try to hug me.

I know it hurts you. I know you’re confused. I know you miss me. I push you away when, really, all I want is for you to stay close to me.

I’m not sure I can, but I want to try to explain why…
