Today marks the beginning of Women's Health Week.

This years' theme is "Do it anyway", encouraging even the smallest steps towards improving and maintaining good health. All too often healthcare is pushed down the priority list due to limited time and resources.

This week we want to encourage the message that any contribution towards yourself and your health is a productive choice. Anything from keeping regular with your screening and checkup appointments, to spending some time outdoors or eating well. All efforts serve to maintain and improve your health and wellbeing.

Take this week to check with yourself and what you may need, and visit your doctor if you have any concerns. Early awareness is the greatest peace of mind you can gift yourself.

Did you know that in Australia, 1 in 7 women will develop breast cancer at some point in their lifetime?

It is a scary but true fact. Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer among ALL women in Australia, and second only to prostate cancer in the entire population.

Make sure you are regularly checking your own breasts to identify any changes early, and keep up with breast screening and surveillance appointments.

Early detection is the best tool you have for your safety and peace of mind.

Did you know that breast implant-related illness may present similar to a common cold?

Dr David Littlejohn explains the range of symptoms to look out for when you have breast implants. Although these non-specific symptoms may be difficult to distinguish, if you have breast implants they may be an important indication of inflammation and complications.

If you have any concerns about your implants please contact us to be seen by Dr Littlejohn in the Implant Clinic, or be seen by your preferred healthcare professional.

Complications can become more dangerous as they advance, so ensure you are staying alert for any changes in your body and having further investigation if you are worried.
