We were thrilled to officially open our new Illawong specialist disability accommodation last Friday!

This project goes to the very heart of what Sylvanvale stands for. These innovative new homes will support independence, choice, social connection, inclusion, and equality for people living with disability.

It was an honour to welcome the Governor of NSW and Sylvanvale Patron Her Excellency the Honourable Margaret Beazley AC KC, Sutherland Shire Mayor Cr Jack Boyd, our Board members, and the families of the people who will soon call this house their home.

Join us this Wednesday at the St George and Sutherland Shire Post-School Options Expo to explore what comes next.

Our team will be there to talk through different services and support options available after school, and answer any questions you may have.

This event is free for students in years 9-12 who are living with a disability and their families and carers.

This week, some of the people we support at Garden House and Sylvanvale Activity Centre (SAC) had their artwork showcased at the ART itude art exhibition at St George & Sutherland Community College in Jannali.

ART itude is a vibrant community event that celebrates creativity, inclusion and lived experience through artwork created by people with disability. This year’s theme, Through My Eyes, invited participants to share their personal perspectives, stories and unique ways of seeing the world.

With the support of Art Therapist Dom, the creative artists at SAC and Garden House worked collaboratively on a series titled Yellow Garden, with each person creating their own interpretation of a garden.

Please join us in celebrating Lorraine, Sharron, Martin, Trisha, Dion, Tanja, Robbie, Jarryd, Michelle, Cappy, Canaan, Lisa, Chris, Lars, Kristi, Nicole, Rhonda, Xavier and Matty for their wonderful creativity and talent.

Alex, one of our superstars at the Sylvanvale Activity Centre, is obsessed with Deal or No Deal and never misses a chance to watch or join in the fun.

So imagine his excitement when Site Manager Jodie surprised him with a personal video message from Grant Denyer himself. Grant’s shout‑out absolutely made Alex’s day and put the biggest smile on his face. Thank you, Grant — you created a moment he’ll never forget!
