Raspberry leaf ~ the woman’s herb

Raspberry leaf (Rubus idaeus) has a long history of traditional use throughout pregnancy, birth and the postpartum period.

Traditionally, raspberry leaf has been used to support the uterus and prepare the body for birth. Interestingly, the herb is described as having a paradoxical action — helping to both relax and tone the uterine muscles.

Traditionally, raspberry leaf has also been used to support women through:
childbirth
postpartum recovery
after-pains following labour (also love homeopathic arnica for this)
breastfeeding
heavy menstrual bleeding
& menstrual discomfort

One of the beautiful things about herbal medicine and our plant allies is that they can work in complex ways within the body, rather than simply having one single action. And when used correctly no side effects

Things I wish I knew in pregnancy 🤍

1. Researching the birth process is great, but make sure you also research what happens when the baby actually comes.
The fourth trimester deserves just as much preparation as birth itself.

2. Every pregnancy is different.
The timing, symptoms, experiences and journey of one woman may look completely different to yours. Try not to compare.

3. Listen to your body.
I was exhausted for most of my pregnancy and allowed myself to rest, whenever I could, even though I felt so much guilt about not doing everything I thought I “should” be doing to prepare. My body needed that rest. And honestly, take as many naps as you possibly can. It may be the last time you can nap whenever you want. You’re growing an entire human from your body, and your brain is completely rewiring in matrescence.

4. Listen to other mums when they give you advice about what it’s like to raise their babies. Like, really listen.
Even just one little part of someone else’s story might resonate with you when you least expect it.

5. And in saying that… a lot of the things you think you know, you don’t truly know until it happens to you.
There is only so much you can prepare for. Some things you simply have to experience.

6. Have boundaries around people telling you their traumatic birth stories.
Sometimes those boundaries get steamrolled because women understandably want to share their birth stories. But remember: that is not your journey. Their birth is not your birth. Your journey will be completely different.

7. Fear is valid when it comes to giving birth. Feel into it.
But when it all starts kicking off, something shifts. The fear can disappear and you simply become present. No matter what your journey looks like, there is something incredibly sacred and wonderful about bringing your baby earthside.

8. Get yourself some wonderful friends who will organise a meal train.
Seriously. Future you will be so grateful.

Happiest of reBeEarth days to our one and only, the man, the myth, the legend, Matt Sullivan

Thank you for being born and finding us in this life.

You bring so much fun and joy to our lives. I’ve never laughed so much, even through the hard days, you have a wonderful way of making them lighter.

You give so much of yourself to everything you do, and you inspire everyone around you, to be the best version of themselves.

Your kindness, compassion and morals far exceed this dimension and for that and so much more is why I will love you forever.

Thank you for being you. 🩵✨🍀

Baby daddy ✨

To the man beyond my wildest dreams. Thank you for making me feel at home, always, and now our son is blessed to feel home in your love and care earth side too. We are so blessed you chose us, and we chose you.

Our beautiful doula (who I highly recommended btw-pm me for deets) said she wishes every woman got to have the love and support that Matt Sullivan gave me in the birth portal.

I am completely in awe of how much this man gives and shows up and inspires me to be better too, and how much he surprises me everyday. Effortlessly. And so much more.

We love you endlessly and forever Matt Sullivan

The carrying 🩵

We Couldn’t have had the amazing outcome we had, without all the wonderful women in our life. And i believe beyond a shadow of a doubt that I chose this life, beyond all the hardships, because I knew you all, were on the other side.

Mako 🦈 is the luckiest to be surrounded by such beautiful women. And probably why he chose this lifetime too.

All my best days have been with all of you 🌺🩵✨

Nettle ~ Urtica dioica

Where do I begin to attempt to explain the magic and nurture of nettle during this phase in my life !!???

To begin with, the nettle plant in my backyard all of a sudden began to thrive, when I found out I was pregnant.

A clear indication, for me, that I needed her medicine. And considering shes rich in iron, and I was low! Also nutrients like Vitamins A, B2, B5, C, K+, Ca+, which are integral for building bones, energy and hormones balance.

Nettle is also a herb that is specifically indicated for people with blue eyes due to their potential predisposition for lymphatic congestion.

I consumed many cups of healing herbal netlle teas throughout my pregnancy and feel super grateful for my journey and its entirety. I Couldnt have done it without our dear herbal allies, my amazing partner and all the beautiful women in my life.

Massive shout out to
Anna Doyle - Mid North Coast Photographer

From beginning to end Anna was so supportive and accommodating. From choosing the venue, to navigating the unruly weather. Then she showed up on the day, and was my biggest cheerleader and friend. I needed it. I am so awkward in front of the camera. I just never know where to put my hands. But Anna made me so comfortable and gave me such grace in all her directions. We laughed and giggled the entire time. And she really listened to what I wanted to achieve, all the while still having her creative genius met. And just saying, she really is, and I absolutely adore her creative genius. I walked away thinking; that was the best day!

If you’re wanting a next level artistic shoot and all the other layers of funsies Anna Doyle - Mid North Coast Photographer is the one.
