Anger, as we call it, when viewed as an action rather than an emotion can really build our story with it differently.
Anger is an activation in your body when you feel unsafe. Think wild animal, they make themselves bigger, they growl, threatening ways to dominate the other but it never usually follows through with action UNLESS it is life threatening. Our Somatic System, the part in charge of fight or flight is shared with these animals. Now this is never an excuse to threaten someone in a violent manor. Due to conditioning, our own experiences under the empire, many of us are told we are weaker, led to believe this because of the way society is formed…who are the hunters in nature?
Anger, when viewed as an emotion, an activation in this way and we use healthy ways to connect and express it can make our bodies believe we can protect ourselves. It’s very important.
Our stories with Anger are formed usually as children, the power dynamic is very different as a child witnessing anger as an action. This can be why we find it had to access or show our own Anger, we do not want to make others feel the way we did, unsafe. We do not want to be that person who made us feel unsafe.
If this is the case we need to rewrite our story with Anger, so we can feel and know we can protect ourselves.
