We share our celebrations, holidays, friendships and achievements—but somewhere between living the moment and recording it, are we losing something?
My new article looks beyond reels and photographs to explore a deeper question: when nobody is watching, does our life still feel meaningful?
Read “When Life Becomes a Performance” and share your thoughts.

Psychology & Human Behaviour The Many Ways We Ask to Be Seen 09/28/2026 Recently, someone described a relative’s frequent Facebook photographs as egocentric and even narcissistic. A long discussion followed. Towards the end, the same person happily mentioned that her comment had attracted the atte...

Sometimes “I’m fine” is not reassurance—it is the kindest lie someone tells to protect the person who asked.

On this R U OK? Day, perhaps the real question is not simply, “Did I ask?” but, “Have I become someone who can safely receive the honest answer?”

My new article explores the pain hidden behind perfect manners—and why asking is only the beginning.

We often talk about the vulnerability of the person who becomes attached.

But we rarely examine the ego of the person who enjoys being needed.

A recent discussion among therapists began with a difficult question: What happens when a counsellor develops feelings for a client? But as I thought about it, I realised this conversation is much bigger than the counselling room.

I have seen different versions of admiration through different phases of my life—as an artist and performer, a teacher, in media and community work, and now as a counsellor. A student can become attached to a teacher. A junior can idealise a senior. An audience can feel it knows a performer. A client can experience being deeply heard as intimacy.

But there is another side we don't examine quite as readily: What happens to us when somebody's admiration makes us feel important?

Perhaps the more difficult question is not, “Does this person have feelings for me?”

It is: “Am I responding to this person—or am I responding to how this person makes me feel about myself?”

I explored this in my new article, The Seduction of Being Important—about admiration, attraction, power, professional boundaries, and the very human pleasure of being needed.

Psychology & Human Behaviour The Seduction of Being Admired 08/18/2026 A few days ago, I came across a discussion among therapists around a question that made many people visibly uncomfortable: What happens when a therapist develops feelings for a client? I read the responses and moved on, but stran...

Every movement begins with a genuine cause. But at what point do we pause and ask whether it is still speaking for the people it began for?

My latest article is not about supporting or opposing any political party. It is a reflection on protest, democracy, responsibility, and the perspective of migrants watching India's debates unfold on Australian streets.

I'd love to hear your thoughts. Please read with an open mind and join the conversation respectfully.

Society & Culture Self Reflection When Does a Protest Stop Speaking for the People It Began For? 07/25/2026 Education has always occupied a special place in my life. I was fortunate to grow up in a family where learning was never seen merely as a means of earning a livelihood but as a responsibility...

A difficult conversation may break hearts, but silence can destroy lives.

My latest article is not about one crime or one family. It is about a question that has been troubling me as a counsellor, a mother of two daughters, and someone who once stood before her own parents asking them to trust her choice.

**When did difficult conversations become harder than violence?**

I explore the changing psychology of relationships, parenting, emotional maturity and why creating homes where children can speak the truth may be one of the greatest responsibilities we have.

I would love to hear your thoughts.

When Did Honest Conversations Become Harder Than Violence? – Dr. Madhvi Pradeep Mohindra

Psychology & Society When Did Honest Conversations Become Harder Than Violence? 06/29/2026 For the last few days, I have been disturbed. Not because another murder has taken place. Sadly, India has witnessed many such tragedies before. What has unsettled me is something much deeper. Every time I rea...

I often wonder when we stopped looking for truth and started looking for people who agree with us. Perhaps the hardest journey is not changing the world, but changing our own minds.
A new reflection: The Courage to Be Wrong.

Self Reflection The Courage to Be Wrong 06/11/2026 A few days ago, someone asked me for my opinion. I gave it. They looked disappointed. Not angry. Not offended. Just disappointed. It took me a while to understand why. They had not come looking for an opinion at all. They had come looking for agreem...

There are some news stories you read, and they pass. And then there are some that do not leave you. They sit in your chest, heavy and unmoving, like grief that refuses to settle.

The recent incident of a schoolgirl being brutally bullied in Sydney is one of those stories that stays.

On International Women’s Day, we celebrate women for their strength, resilience, and ability to carry so much at once. But somewhere in that admiration, a quiet question often remains: when did appreciation slowly become expectation?

The modern woman is praised for doing everything — building careers, nurturing families, managing emotions, and constantly evolving. Yet behind many capable exteriors lives a simple human desire: the freedom to sometimes put the armour down.

Perhaps true empowerment is not about proving how much a woman can carry, but about allowing her the dignity to choose what she does not have to carry.

Every year on the 8th of March, the world celebrates women. Messages appear everywhere praising their strength, resilience, patience, and ability to balance many roles at once. Whenever I read these tributes, one thought quietly crosses my mind: when did admiration slowly turn into expectation? Why....

In a time when every emotion is posted, captioned, and shared, I find myself asking a quiet question: are we truly healing, or have we begun to perform healing?
Sharing our struggles can reduce stigma and create connection, but real inner work is often slow, messy, and invisible. It does not always fit into aesthetic frames or motivational captions. Sometimes healing happens in silence, in private reflection, and in choices no one else sees.
Perhaps the deeper question for our time is this: can we grow without turning our wounds into identity?

Life Reflection Is Healing Becoming a Performance? 03/04/2026 I often wonder when healing became something we needed to display. There was a time when emotional repair was quiet. People worked through grief, confusion, betrayal, and identity shifts in private spaces — sometimes with support, someti...

Why does commitment feel so fragile today? In a world where independence is prized and separation is easy, marriages are no longer collapsing loudly — they’re dissolving quietly. This piece goes beyond clichés to ask a deeper question: are we entering marriage prepared to stay as much as we know how to achieve? Reflect with me on what’s happening beneath the noise, and why repair — not reaction — deserves space.

Relationship When Marriages Start Feeling Disposable 02/08/2026 Reflections on Divorce, Distance, and the Noise Around Us Somewhere between wedding photographs and WhatsApp forwards, marriages have started feeling fragile. I don’t mean fragile in the dramatic sense—shouting, breaking, collapsing...
