🏃‍♀️ I’ll be cheering you on all the way to Bondi this Sunday!

City2Surf is nearly here, and after looking after thousands of runners over the years, I thought I’d share a few of my favourite recovery tips before race day.

🤍 Trust your training. There’s no need to squeeze in one last hard run.

💧 Stay hydrated all week, not just on race morning.

😴 Prioritise your sleep. Your body does some of its best recovery while you’re resting.

🧘 Stretch, stay mobile and listen to your body if something feels tight.

🍌 Eat well and fuel your body with foods that make you feel your best.

And finally…

🏅 Enjoy every single kilometre.

Whether you’re chasing a personal best, running for a charity close to your heart, tackling your very first City2Surf or simply soaking up the incredible atmosphere, crossing that finish line is something to be proud of.

We’ll be here before the race to help you prepare, and after the race to help you recover.

Good luck to every runner this weekend. I’ll be cheering every one of you on. 🤍

Happy Friday! 🤍

By Friday, most of us aren’t just physically tired. We’re mentally exhausted too.

We’ve been sitting at desks, rushing between meetings, training before or after work, juggling family, emails and life.

Sometimes the best thing you can do for your body isn’t another workout…

It’s giving yourself permission to slow down for an hour.

Massage isn’t an indulgence.

It’s maintenance.

Looking after your body now often means fewer aches, better sleep and feeling ready to enjoy your weekend instead of simply recovering from your week.

If you’ve been saying, “I really need a massage…”

Take this as your sign.

Have a beautiful Friday everyone.

A little goodbye… but not goodbye forever 🤍

After many wonderful years at Jackie’s Sports Massage, our beautiful Martina is moving on to an exciting new chapter.

Martina has accepted an amazing opportunity to continue building her personal training career at One Playground, and I couldn’t be happier or prouder of her.

Martina, thank you for everything you’ve brought to JSM over the years. Your hard work, your passion, your feisty personality and that beautiful smile have made such an impact on our team and your clients.

The door at JSM will always be open for you. Once you’re part of the family, you’re always part of the family. 🤍

To Martina’s wonderful clients… don’t worry, we’ve got you.

Every therapist at JSM brings their own unique style, personality and healing hands to the table, and that’s something I absolutely love about our team. If you enjoyed Martina’s treatment style, I’d recommend trying Brittany, Miyuki or Nancy, but I also encourage you to experience everyone. You might just discover another favourite.

Martina, we wish you every success in this exciting next chapter. Keep shining—we’ll all be cheering you on.

One thing I’ve learnt after treating thousands of people over the years…

We live in a world that celebrates pushing harder.

Work harder.
Train harder.
Keep going.

But what I’ve learnt is that recovery is where the real magic happens.

Whether it’s after a hard training session, a stressful week at work or simply the demands of everyday life, your body needs time to repair, recharge and reset.

Recovery isn’t weakness.

Recovery is part of becoming stronger.

Sometimes the healthiest thing you can do is slow down, get a great night’s sleep, book that massage and simply listen to what your body has been trying to tell you.

Your body works incredibly hard for you every single day.

Look after it… and it will look after you

Jackie’s At-Home Sciatica Release… featuring a wooden spoon 😅

Who needs fancy recovery tools when your kitchen drawer is all you need 🤣

If you suffer from sciatica, this little at-home hack might help.

Often sciatic pain isn’t actually coming from the nerve itself — it can be caused by the piriformis muscle, a deep glute muscle that sits right over the sciatic nerve.

When the piriformis gets tight, inflamed or goes into spasm, it can compress the sciatic nerve and cause pain through the:
• glutes
• hip
• hamstring
• calf
• even all the way into the foot

That burning, aching, shooting pain… not fun.

Massaging through the glutes and piriformis can help release tension, improve blood flow and take pressure off the nerve.

And yes… apparently a wooden spoon can do the trick at home 😂

Now for the deeper layer…

I’ve also become fascinated by the emotional side of pain.

Louise Hay associated sciatica with:
fear about the future, money worries and feeling unsupported.

Interesting, right?

Because stress doesn’t just live in the mind.
It lives in the body.

We clench.
We tighten.
We brace.

And the hips and glutes are one of the biggest places we store that tension.

So if you’ve got sciatica, my advice is this:

Treat both.

Release the muscle.
Calm the nervous system.
And ask yourself…
“Where in life am I feeling fear, pressure or unsupported right now?”

The body is always talking.

We just need to listen.

And if the wooden spoon isn’t enough… you know where to find us 😄🤍
