🧠 Memory Matters at Leigh Place

Leigh Place Aged Care is proud to partner with the Canterbury-Bankstown Dementia Alliance and the City of Canterbury Bankstown to host a free Memory Matters: Memory and Brain Health Information Session as part of Dementia Awareness Month.

📅 Monday 14 September 2026
🕚 11.00am – 12.30pm (Greek Session)
📍 Leigh Place Aged Care, 12–18 Leigh Avenue, Roselands

These free community sessions provide an opportunity to learn more about:
• Memory and brain health
• Dementia and its warning signs
• Local support services
• Support available for carers, families and friends
• Ways to stay healthy, active and connected

Participants will also have the chance to ask questions in a welcoming environment.

Dementia is not a normal part of ageing. Learning more about dementia can help reduce stigma, increase understanding, and encourage people to seek information and support early.

We encourage community members, carers, families and anyone interested in brain health to attend and help build a more dementia-friendly community. Please register using the link below:

🌼 September is shaping up to be another busy and exciting month at Leigh Place!

Our Lifestyle Team has planned a wonderful mix of activities, outings, entertainment and special events to keep residents active, engaged and connected. From Father's Day celebrations and concerts to fitness programs, arts and crafts, café days and social gatherings, there is plenty to look forward to throughout the month.

We're also looking forward to being involved in some fantastic community events, including:

• The Lions Festival on 20 September.
• The Dementia Awareness Expo at the Bryan Brown Theatre, Bankstown, on 25 September, where residents, families and community members can connect with local services and learn more about dementia support and care.

And while we're enjoying everything September has to offer, preparations for our much-loved Leigh Place Community Fete on Saturday 10 October are already well underway. We're looking forward to welcoming residents, families, friends, volunteers and the wider community for another fantastic day of fun, entertainment and connection.

🌼 Come and Say Hello at the Lugarno Spring Festival! 🌼

Leigh Place Aged Care is excited to be part of this year's Lugarno Spring Festival at Gannons Park on Sunday 20 September.

With over 160 stalls, delicious food, carnival rides, an animal farm, camel rides, live entertainment, a classic car show, wrestling exhibitions, and plenty of family fun, it's shaping up to be a fantastic day out for the whole community.

If you're attending, be sure to stop by the Leigh Place Aged Care stall. We'd love to meet you, answer any questions you may have about aged care, and share a little about life at Leigh Place.

Leigh Place Aged Care is proud to be a member of the Canterbury Bankstown Dementia Alliance, a partnership of organisations committed to building a more inclusive, informed and dementia-friendly community.

As part of this commitment, we are pleased to be supporting the Treasure the Moment: Dementia Awareness Expo and will be hosting an information stall at the event.

Whether you are living with dementia, caring for someone, supporting a family member, working in the sector, or simply interested in learning more, this free community event offers valuable information, practical resources, local support services, and opportunities to connect with others.

🎬🌈 There's No Place Like Leigh Place! 🌈🎬

Our residents were treated to a magical afternoon at Movie Time, featuring the timeless classic The Wizard of Oz.

To make the experience even more special, our staff stepped into character, dressing up as Dorothy, The Wizard of Oz, Glinda the Good Witch, and the Cowardly Lion, bringing plenty of smiles and laughter along the way. 💛

Residents enjoyed freshly made popcorn and fairy floss while following Dorothy's journey down the Yellow Brick Road. It was wonderful to see so many happy faces sharing memories, singing along to familiar songs, and enjoying the fun together.

A big thank you to our Lifestyle Team and staff who helped bring a little Oz magic to Leigh Place. ✨
