NAIDOC WEEK @ Clover Lea - Aboriginal Smoking Ceremony
This week we proudly celebrated NAIDOC Week with a traditional Aboriginal Smoking Ceremony led by Uncle Elvis in our front garden. The weather was on our side, with warm sunshine, clear skies, and no rain, creating the perfect setting for this special occasion.
Staff also played traditional Aboriginal instrumental music in the background, adding to the peaceful and reflective atmosphere.
Residents were warmly invited by staff to join the ceremony, along with their families and our team members. Uncle Elvis shared
the meaning and importance of the Smoking Ceremony, explaining how it is a traditional way of cleansing the spirit, promoting
wellbeing, and showing respect for Country. He also blessed the surrounding trees and nature, helping everyone appreciate the
connection between people, culture, and the land.
The ceremony brought everyone together in a spirit of respect, learning, and cultural appreciation. It was a meaningful experience
that received wonderful feedback from residents and families, helping us celebrate and keep Aboriginal culture and traditions alive.
