Three days at Interdisciplinary Conference on Psychedelic Research (ICPR) 2026 in Amsterdam 🌷

What I valued most wasn’t any single keynote: it was the quality of the conversations. Connecting with clinicians and researchers from across the globe doing rigorous, thoughtful work in psychedelic-assisted therapy is genuinely nourishing for practice.

The field is in an important phase right now. The evidence base is strengthening particularly around psilocybin and MDMA’s capacity to facilitate neuroplasticity, shift entrenched cognitive and emotional patterns, and support lasting therapeutic change in ways traditional pharmacology hasn’t replicated. The conversation is shifting toward implementation: how we do this safely, ethically, and with clinical integrity.

Connecting with Australian colleagues navigating the same regulatory and clinical questions was a reminder of how much shared ground there is and how much we learn from each other across contexts.

And yes, it turns out psychedelic practitioners also know how to have a good time. The after party was a reminder that the people doing this work are just that: people. Warm, curious, committed — and apparently also quite good on a dance floor. 🕺

This is a field worth being part of.

Highlights of this years in Mudgee

Some places slow you down before the work even begins.

This year’s theme: Becoming. Not striving. Not optimising. Just returning — to stillness, to the body, to yourself.

Nervous system regulation isn’t a luxury. It’s the foundation everything else is built on. 🌿

And that’s a wrap for this years Mudgee. More pics to follow 💙📸

💃There’s something quietly radical about women who take risks whether it’s financial, professional, personal and still show up, still support each other, still build.

🍿 It’s time for another Psychologists take and TV series review! Some spoilers ahead 🙉

🎬 All Her Fault (Disney+) had me completely hooked from episode one. Sarah Snook deserves an award for this show, she carries the weight of every scene without overplaying it. Dakota Fanning is equally compelling. If you enjoy psychological thrillers with real substance, this is a binge worth your weekend.

❤️ The show does something rare and difficult to do: it uses a missing child storyline not just for tension, but as a lens to examine maternal guilt, class, and how quickly we assign blame to women. Every character is morally grey, which keeps you genuinely unsure until the end

🟠 The psychological layer that stood out most to me? The savior complex at the heart of the perpetrator’s motivation. This isn’t someone causing obvious harm; it’s someone who needs to be needed. Their identity is entirely built around being indispensable to others

🧠 This is more common than we think. Psychologically, it maps onto what we call identity contingency — when self-worth depends entirely on others remaining dependent on you. The “help” being offered isn’t really about the other person. It’s about the helper’s own emotional survival.

🚩 When you dig deeper, this pattern often reflects traits consistent with covert narcissism - the loud, arrogant kind, but the quietly controlling kind that wears devotion as a mask. The admiration is the goal. The crisis is the vehicle.

💙 The show gets this right. The perpetrator reads as caring and trustworthy to everyone around them, which is exactly what makes this dynamic so dangerous in real life. Manipulation doesn’t always look like manipulation. Sometimes it looks like the most devoted person in the room

How do you tell the difference between someone who genuinely wants to help vs someone who needs you to need them? Let me know, comment below ✨

“I never really saw myself as someone who’d end up at a psychedelic retreat”

Anastasiya,41, a business owner, was carrying years of emotional weight. Grief had built up in her body. She felt like she was always in survival mode - the kind of burden that makes your body remember what your mind tries to forget.

But when she heard about ,something shifted. For the first time she felt ready. Not just curious. Ready.

Then, in the ceremony, something cracked open.

“I felt like I sided and came back in the same breath.” Waves of emotion moved through her and that emotional weight she carried for years? Gone. Not just better, gone.

The transformation didn’t stop there

Back in her daily life things that used to trigger her lost their power. “I was finally regulated, not reactive”. The hyper vigilance softened. sleep improved, anxiety lifted. “I stopped trying to control everything. I wasn’t gripping into things so tightly anymore”

But perhaps the deepest shift was self awareness.”with outer layers stripped away, I began to see parts of myself I hadn’t wanted to look at. I can see it clearly now, without the fog”.

Would she recommend it? “Absolutely. A hundred times yes”

Because here’s what Anastasiya knows now: “It’s about facing yourself and finally putting down what you’ve been carrying”

This is what’s possible when psychedelic medicine is held in the right container with clinical expertise and a space designed for genuine transformation. Anastasiya’s story reflects what we have seen in this work. When people are truly ready and the container is solid, profound healing and change is possible.
