We're excited to share that Permobil APAC is supporting Crip Café, the new live podcast from The D*List.

Crip Café creates space for people with disabilities to come together, share access hacks, explore disability dilemmas, laugh, connect, and build community.

That kind of space matters. Because people with disabilities deserve platforms where their stories, humour, lived experience, and expertise are not added on at the end. They are at the centre.

Supporting Crip Café reflects our commitment to amplifying authentic, disability-led perspectives and backing initiatives that strengthen community connection. We can't wait to see the conversations Crip Café sparks.

As the podcast is New Zealand made, some topics may have a country specific focus, including politics. However, we believe there is a lot of great content that can be useful wherever in the world you are.

New to using a wheelchair?

We asked wheelchair users what they wish they had known earlier. Their advice was honest, practical, and full of lived experience. If you want to read more about what wheelchair users said, check out the beyond Australia site - https://hubs.li/Q04pZsxC0

A few themes came through strongly:

- Take it one step at a time
- Use the mobility support that helps you live your life
- Find someone who understands
- Ask for skills, not just equipment
- Protect your shoulders and energy
- Speak up when people talk past you
- Remember that you are still you

A wheelchair is not giving up.

For many people, it can mean more freedom, more energy, and more access to the things that matter. If you are at the start of this journey, you do not have to figure it all out at once. Start with the next step. Find your people. Ask questions. Keep going.
