Dovida Sydney North Shore and Northern Beaches Delivering home care services to your community. We empower older people to live their life, their way at home.

Formerly Home Instead Australia, Dovida provides high-quality, person-centred home care to the Pymble and Northern Beaches community. Dovida creates a Circle of Care that places individuals at the centre of a holistic support system, uniting families, our skilled caregivers, our support teams, and the wider healthcare community. We provide a range of services including everyday companionship, domestic assistance, personal care, meal preparation, medication reminders, and transport to appointments, shopping and social outings. Care is available up to 24hrs a day and ranges from light housekeeping to dementia care and palliative care.

David loves baking Mary Berry’s Fork Biscuits with help and support of his Caregiver Samantha. They have been a favourite of David’s and his family ever since they started baking them a few years back.

September brings with it Dementia Awareness Month and it is wonderful to see so many organisations sharing knowledge, raising awareness and helping people better understand dementia.

Dementia is now the leading cause of death for both men and women in Australia. Having the privilege of sharing what we know and showing people how we can help, makes you realise just how important the work we do is.

The message is simple: you are not alone. There is support, there are people who understand, organisations who are here to walk alongside you.

This week, I found myself attending many different events, each one providing an opportunity to learn, listen and connect.

Care Manager Steph and myself say a big thank you to the team at Blooms Forestville for your wonderful hospitality once again. Welcoming us back and for being part of the conversation around dementia awareness ❤️

The Northern Beaches Dementia Alliance always delivers such wonderful presentations. Having a panel available to answer questions from those who want to understand dementia more deeply was incredibly enlightening. Thank you to everyone who so generously shared your knowledge and stories.

A big thank you also to Hornsby Shire Council for once again inviting Dovida Hornsby Hills and Dovida Sydney North Shore & Northern Beaches to be part of their Dementia Expo at Hornsby Westfield.

Events like these are so important in helping to break the stigma surrounding dementia. We are incredibly passionate about supporting and educating families and showing them that they don't have to face this journey alone.

Let's talk about dementia.
Let's keep learning.
Let's keep supporting one another.
And most importantly, let's continue to find ways to live as well as we can with dementia ❤️

Navigating the aged care journey can feel overwhelming, especially when you are trying to make the best decisions for someone you love.

We’re so grateful to have been able to support this family and their mother, from advocating alongside them and helping navigate the aged care system, to providing daily care that meets her individual needs.

A special thank you to Simone, Prue, Donna and the wider team for the kindness, guidance and support they provide every day. Most importantly, we’re so pleased to hear that their mother is happy, supported and able to continue living safely in the place she calls home. 💙

Dementia is an umbrella term for a group of symptoms that can affect memory, thinking and everyday life. Alzheimer's disease is one type of dementia and the most common cause of dementia.

Understanding the difference can help us better understand the experiences of people living with dementia and the support they may need. Most importantly, behind every diagnosis is a person with their own story, preferences and individuality. 💛
