Sydney City Psychology Sydney City Psychology are clinical psychologists. We can help if you or someone you care about is struggling. We provide individual therapy and couples therapy.

We help adults, adolescents and children who are experiencing anxiety, depression, and other emotional pain such as hurt, sadness, anger, negative thinking, worry, low motivation, low self-esteem, low confidence and who are struggling with situations at work, home, or in their relationships. In our busy society, there is often a lot expected from us and I believe it is important that we take time for ourselves and care of our mental health and wellbeing. Our choice of therapy is determined collaboratively with our clients and is based on our assessment and formulation of the client difficulties and their goals. The therapies we use include Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness Training, Schema Therapy, Trauma Focused Therapy and EMDR.

Anxiety is a surface-level signal that convinces us we are unsafe.
Sometimes anxiety convinces us that what is unsafe are the feelings we are having inside.
Even if you leave the anxiety-inducing situation, you can still choose to stay with everything you are feeling inside. Once you feel secure and away from any external threat, you can choose to look inside rather than distract yourself with other things.
And by doing that, you will learn more about what you need, what you desire, what confuses you, and the current edges of your understanding.

ISTDP stands for Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy. But what does that actually look like in the room? In episode 17 of our podcast, we discuss it as a "loving way of helping someone to look at what they have been sweeping under the rug". But how? Unlike traditional talk therapy, ISTDP is experiential. We don't just talk about the past, we look at how your patterns are showing up right this second in the room.

If you are tired of "band-aid" approaches and are ready to get to the root of your suffering, this approach might be for you. Find the link in our bio to learn more about our ISTDP services on Macquarie Street and online across Australia. 🏙️

🎵 Want to hear more about the approach from two ISTDP therapists? Check out episode 17 of 10 Minute Mood podcast, on our website or via Spotify or Apple Podcasts.

Discover the profound impact of emotional intimacy in creating deeper connections. 💫 True emotional intimacy goes beyond surface-level conversation topics, instead involving genuine expression and vulnerability with another person. Building your capacity to be emotionally intimate can cultivate more authentic connections, mutual trust, and overall wellbeing. It can also help you to step out of the silence and allow people whom you trust to really see parts of you for the first time. Our psychologists can work with you to build emotional intimacy and meaningful connection. ❣️
