Your idea gets no response. Twenty minutes later someone else says it and the room agrees.
Nothing happened. That is the whole problem. There is nothing you could repeat to anyone that would sound like anything at all, and nobody wants to be the woman who whinges about a meeting.
So you say nothing, which is usually the sensible call. But it does not go anywhere. It resurfaces at odd moments, on the drive home, in the shower, halfway through something else entirely, and you are arguing your case again to nobody.
๐ That is not you dwelling on it. Anything left unfinished stays in motion. Think of a pond with the silt stirred up. Nothing settles while the water keeps moving, and every meeting that goes the same way stirs it again.
๐ Writing these observations down is what lets the silt settle. Not to build a case. Just jot down the moments, as you remember them. You may not recall dates and it does not matter. What matters is that they stop being a blur you carry around and become something you can look at.
Most women find there are more than they expected. That is not proof you are too sensitive. It is the first time the whole thing has sat in one place.
๐ฌ Now you have something you can show someone. A partner, a sister, a friend who has been in the same kind of room. This was never possible before, because a conversation only holds one moment at a time and one moment always sounds like nothing. The page holds the lot. Let them read it rather than your trying to tell it to them.
Sometimes that is enough. Being believed by one person you trust settles a great deal of it.
Sometimes it is not. They might be too close to it, or too quick to defend you, or there might be nobody who can hear it without a stake in what you do next. If the water keeps stirring after that, it is worth talking to someone whose work is to listen properly. Fifteen minutes, at no cost, with someone who has no stake in the answer and no reason to need it to be smaller than it is.
