3 Steps to a Non-toxic Home Without the Overwhelm

So, you want to start cleaning up your home (in the green sense). You want to start getting rid of all the toxins, but it feels like you are changing too much at once. Start with these 3 Simple Steps to Greening up your home.

Step 1: Ditch the multi-purpose sprays. If you need to wear gloves and a respirator or keep your windows open…I don’t think I want in my house. Even the beloved green cleaners that are filled with artificial scents…I don’t have time for that either. I use On Guard Cleaner Concentrate or the abode Multi-Purpose Surface Cleaner Concentrate.

Step 2: Ditch the candles. Switch to diffusers. Your lungs will thank you.

Step 3: Drop the perfume like it's hot. Even as nice as it smells, perfume is not doing you any favors when it comes to your health. Instead switch to all-natural pure-fumes by layering essential oils to create your own unique signature scent.

Frankincense essential oil

A preclinical study found that the topical application of frankincense essential oil relieves pain and reduces inflammation. The researchers noted that the oil interrupts nervous system signaling for pain, reduces the production of pro-inflammatory molecules, and inhibits COX-2 overexpression. The researchers further found that alpha-pinene, linalool, and 1-octanol contribute to these activities of frankincense oil.

Recently, scientists reported that bergamot essential oil regulates 5-HT1A activity, which partly explains why it is able to reduce anxious feelings.
