I’d start by asking:
✨ Am I actually nourishing my body enough for the demands I’m putting on it?
✨ Am I getting enough protein, minerals and nutrients — or am I running on coffee, convenience foods and adrenaline?
✨ How is my sleep, my stress, my mood and my ability to cope day-to-day?
✨ Do I feel constantly anxious, overwhelmed or like I can’t switch off?
✨ Have I had my iron, thyroid, vitamin D, B vitamins and other key nutrients assessed?
✨ Am I getting enough support?
Then, I’d create realistic goals that actually fit in with farm life.
🌱 I’d make sure I was eating regular, nourishing meals — even if that meant meal prepping, slow cookers, freezer meals or having simple staples ready.
🌱 I’d look at whether my body needed extra support through nutraceuticals, minerals or targeted herbal medicine — including adaptogenic herbs to support stress resilience or herbs traditionally used for nervous system support.
🌱 I’d prioritise connection — talking with other women in the community, asking for help and not trying to do everything alone.
🌱 I’d consider what practical support could look like. A nanny, governess, cleaner or extra help around the home isn’t a sign you’re failing. Sometimes it’s actually the support that allows a family to thrive.
Not every farming family today looks like what it did generations ago. Many women just like you are juggling children, the household, farm responsibilities and the invisible load, etc. A lot of the time - without the village that once existed.
The most nurturing thing you can do for your family is start caring for yourself on a deeper level 🧡
