A timely reminder as the days get cooler and the need for an extra cuppa โ๏ธ
Thereโs nothing like a nice hot cup of tea, but the enjoyment is quickly gone if curious little hands come into contact!
More burns occur in the home as the weather cools down, especially for children accidentally receiving spill burns from hot beverages, boiling water or other hot liquids like oil.
It only takes a second for a small child to grab something they shouldnโt, which can leave nasty consequences.
Keep children safe from burns by:
โข Keeping hot liquids well out of reach, especially in the kitchen or on low lying coffee tables etc.
โข Always turn pot and pan handles inwards on stovetops.
โข Be mindful of where children are located while carrying hot liquids.
โข Do not allow children near stoves, kettles, bench tops where they may be hot beverages, hot oven doors, barbecues, heaters, or other hot appliances
โข Know your burns first aid. Cool with running water for at least 20 minutes, as required.
โข Always call Triple Zero (000) in an emergency.
