You might have heard the term "SIL" before, but do you know what it actually means?

SIL stands for Supported Independent Living and is a type of NDIS funding that covers support for a person with disability to live as independently as possible in their home. It covers a support worker to help with daily tasks, so that you can learn new skills and live independently.

SIL gives you the freedom and support to make friends, go shopping, attend events, learn new skills, and enjoy fun hobbies.

Foster Care FAQs 💬

The amount of information you'll receive about a child before a placement depends on the type of care you’re providing and how much information is available at the time.

It's also important to remember that each child has their own story—and it’s their story to tell. Our role is to share what’s necessary to help you provide safe, supportive care without overstepping their personal boundaries.

Meet the members of our new 'From Scratch' group at our Narrabri Community Supports hub. 🧺

This group is all about learning how to make things 'from scratch'. For their first assignment the group had to make butter from buttermilk, and they couldn't be happier with the results! 🧈

Their next task is to make a fresh loaf of bread—perfect to pair with their delicious homemade butter! 🍞

Today marks the beginning of National Reconciliation Week, a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and explore how we can each contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia.

This year's NRW theme is "All In". "All In" makes clear that reconciliation is not a spectator sport and that all of us must step away from the sidelines and take action to make change. Reconciliation will not happen by itself, and it will not happen without all of us.

The artwork for this campaign is by renowned Gumbaynggirr/Bundjalung artist Otis Hope Carey, who applied his distinctive style to create a colourful and optimistic visual representation of people from all walks of life being ‘all in’ to make change.

Not sure what the difference is between SDA and SIL? 🤔

Specialist Disability Accommodation is about the house itself—think accessibility features, design and location. SDA funding helps pay for the building, not the support. 🏠

Supported Independent Living is about the people and support. SIL funding covers the everyday support that you receive in the home—think personal care, cooking, and skills building. 🍳

In recognising IDAHOBIT this month, we reflect on the role inclusive allied health care plays in supporting wellbeing, mental health, and quality of life for many people in the LGBTQIA+ community.

Truly inclusive support is about creating environments where people feel genuinely safe to be themselves. Our Allied Health team is committed to providing person-centred support that recognises and respects every individual’s identity, experiences, relationships and goals—because every person deserves to feel safe, respected, and understood when accessing support services.
