It was one of those mornings.

The kind where everything seemed to need attention at once.

Breakfast wasn't quite finished.
A phone call needed returning.
The day's appointments were already running through everyone's minds.

Then someone looked at the clock.

"Don't worry, they'll be here soon."

And right on time, the familiar car pulled up.

The same support worker. ๐Ÿ’™
The same friendly wave. ๐Ÿ’™
The same reassuring smile. ๐Ÿ’™

Nothing extraordinary happened that day.
There were no big milestones or major achievements.

Just a community outing, a few laughs, a coffee stop, and the comfort of knowing exactly what to expect.

Sometimes, that's what great support looks like.

Not surprises.
Not uncertainty.

Just consistency.

Because for many participants and families, predictable isn't boring.
It's a relief. ๐Ÿ’™

Dizzy has been part of Heart Worx for almost a year now, and she has become a capable, resourceful presence in the team. ๐Ÿ’™

Her support style is calm and low-pressure, but not hands-off. She is good at helping real-life things move along without making the day feel heavier.

For participants who need someone patient, practical, and easy to be around, Dizzy may be a good match.

Shared ground can help too - especially if gaming, live music, staying active, Greyโ€™s Anatomy, or Billie Eilish are already part of the conversation.

Someone gets to the appointment, answers the message, does the groceries, has a laugh, looks fairly together from the outside - and people assume that must be their "real" capacity.

Then another day they cannot get out, reply properly, or finish the thing they started, and suddenly the read changes. They must be disengaged, not trying hard enough, or going backwards - ๐˜ฃ๐˜ถ๐˜ต ๐˜ต๐˜ฉ๐˜ข๐˜ต ๐˜ช๐˜ด ๐˜ฏ๐˜ฐ๐˜ต ๐˜ฉ๐˜ฐ๐˜ธ ๐˜ฅ๐˜ช๐˜ด๐˜ข๐˜ฃ๐˜ช๐˜ญ๐˜ช๐˜ต๐˜บ ๐˜ธ๐˜ฐ๐˜ณ๐˜ฌ๐˜ด ๐˜ง๐˜ฐ๐˜ณ ๐˜ข ๐˜ญ๐˜ฐ๐˜ต ๐˜ฐ๐˜ง ๐˜ฑ๐˜ฆ๐˜ฐ๐˜ฑ๐˜ญ๐˜ฆ.

Pain shifts. Fatigue shifts. Anxiety, sensory load, sleep, medication, appointments, hormones, grief, weather, pressure - all of it can change what someone has available.

Someone might manage the appointment and lose the rest of the day. They might look okay because looking okay is sometimes part of getting through what has to be done.

At Heart Worx, we pay attention to these patterns because they tell us when support is working, when it is costing too much, and where it needs to be adjusted. ๐Ÿ’™

Some days that might mean more help. Some days less. Some days it might mean the same support, but slower, quieter, or with fewer moving parts.

It depends on the person, the day, and what life is asking from them - not just the diagnosis.

Cheyenne has been with Heart Worx for 15 months now, and in that time she has shown real commitment to her participants and her work peers.

She has recently stepped into one of our Team Anchor roles, which says a lot about the way she shows up - calm, practical, and willing to support the people around her.

Cheyenne brings a lovely mix of calm and warmth. She can help a day feel less full-on without making things dull, and she is great at supporting people through routines, anxious moments, home-based tasks, or creative little projects that make support feel a bit more natural.

She also understands disability from more than one angle, both as a support worker and as a parent to a child with multiple disabilities. So she gets that support has to work with the day people are actually having- not the neat version everyone hoped for.

Sometimes there are still messages to follow up, times to confirm, changes to work around, and the same information being repeated because something got missed or moved again.

A lot of participants and families know that feeling. Support is technically arranged, but they are still watching the little moving parts in the background and trying not to feel annoying for checking basic things like, โ€œIs tomorrow still happening?โ€

That stuff can look small from the outside, but it adds up quickly when the week was already full.

Support will always involve real humans and real life, so things do change sometimes, but support should not leave people feeling like they have to chase every piece of it themselves. ๐Ÿ’™

People connected to the NDIS are being encouraged to send in even a short submission.

That includes participants, carers, families, support workers, providers, therapists, support coordinators, recovery coaches, and people in regional communities.

This is another task being asked of people who are already carrying a lot. That is also why lived and real-world experience needs to be on the record before decisions are made.

The NDIS does need fixing. Fraud, overcharging and poor provider behaviour should be dealt with- but the public conversation cannot only land on participants and providers as the main source of cost and waste.

A lot of waste also comes from the system itself not working properly - delays, unclear rules, repeated reassessments, poor communication, thin markets, long waits, and decisions that push the problem somewhere else instead of actually solving it.

If support becomes harder to access, the need does not disappear. It lands on participants, unpaid carers, families, regional services, hospitals, housing, mental health systems and crisis supports later.

Nino is one of our most experienced support workers.

Heโ€™s practical, calm, and very good at helping people get moving again when things have stalled a bit.

That might be routines, appointments, getting out of the house, cooking, building confidence, or just having someone beside you who knows how to keep things doable without taking over.

Heโ€™s also one of our Team Anchors, which means other workers often check in with him when they need a hand thinking through whatโ€™s happening on shift.

Outside of work, Nino also enjoys healthy cooking, adventures, creative projects, and anything hands-on.

Walk a Mile in Her Shoes Tamworth gave us blisters, bragging rights, and one very serious 7-year-old who may have stolen the whole day.

Riley, Heart Worx Co-Founder and Director, walked alongside Nino, one of our much-loved team members, and Monty, Ninoโ€™s son. Heels were worn. Pinky toes were sacrificed. Several footwear choices were questioned by the end.

Monty rocked the heels, took the walk seriously, and came home with the Encouragement Award - tiny legend energy. No notes. ๐Ÿ‘

Nino also took out Most Confident Strut, which makes complete sense if you saw him walking like he had secretly trained for this moment.
And Heart Worx came home with Most Funds Raised, which weโ€™re proud of because this cause deserves to be backed properly.

Big thank you to the Tamworth Domestic & Family Violence Committee for putting the day together, and to everyone who walked, cheered, filmed, limped, shared, donated, or backed the event ๐Ÿ’™ We are so proud of you all.

The heels were funny. They are meant to be.
But the point is not really the shoes.

It is men showing up publicly for something women are still too often left to survive and carry.
And locally, this is not rare. You only have to spend time in local Facebook groups to see women asking for help to leave violence safely.

If you see harm, threats, control, or violence, donโ€™t brush it off. If someone is in immediate danger, call 000.

Next year, we would love to see more men there.

More walkers. More funds raised. More people willing to show up, speak up, and help keep this issue visible.

Same heels. Bigger turnout next year ๐Ÿ‘

Heart Worx will be joining Walk a Mile in Her Shoes tomorrow here in Tamworth alongside the Tamworth Domestic & Family Violence Committee and the wider community.

Itโ€™s a day that holds both seriousness and community spirit at the same time, and weโ€™re proud to be part of it again this year.

If youโ€™re coming along - weโ€™ll see you there.

And if you spot Riley and Nino looking personally betrayed by their footwear choices, please be kind. ๐Ÿ’™

Celia has been part of the Heart Worx team for just over a year and has become someone participants genuinely look forward to seeing.

She's warm, bubbly, and practical in equal measure. She came to support work after more than seven years in childcare, and that background shows in the best way. She's patient, she doesn't rattle easily, and she knows how to make people feel included and at ease without making a fuss of it.

As a mum of three she's also no stranger to busy, unpredictable days. She handles the stressful moments quietly and keeps things moving without adding to the noise.

Support with Celia often involves cooking something together, getting outside, doing something creative, or simply having good company while getting through the day. She's just as happy pottering around the house as she is out in the community.

She's particularly good with children and young people, and brings a natural creativity into her sessions that tends to make things feel less like support and more like time well spent.

At Heart Worx, we match for fit, not just availability.
If Celia sounds like the right person for you or someone you support, get in touch below.
