Apparently affidavits are Choose Your Own Adventure: in AVO Court, “I was on the phone and heard the assault”; in Family Court, same incident, “Actually, the kids told me about it later” — same lawyer, same CCTV proving otherwise. 😂
Two courts, two sworn stories, a lawyer with mummy issues, tens of thousands of dollars for me to defend the same allegation twice… but sure, tell me again how legal systems abuse isn’t a thing. Make it make sense.

For over a year, a lawyer was fighting in court to prove my children weren’t safe in my care.
Plot twist: I was her daughter’s unpaid Thursday-night babysitter. 😂
She knew exactly who I was. I had no idea, I had her saved in my phone as “little girl’s Mum.”
You cannot cross-examine this level of irony. 😂
Reality is nearly always stranger than fiction.

They never hit me.
Maybe that’s the most dangerous sentence we’ve taught victims to say.
Because abuse can destroy you long before the first bruise appears — and sometimes the warning signs everyone ignored only become obvious after someone is dead.

Do it anyway. Let’s get called difficult and make it too loud to ignore. History was never changed by the people who stayed quiet.
It was changed by the ones they couldn’t silence.
Because domestic violence thrives when silence protects broken systems.
So speak loudly enough that the systems have no choice but to change. Women NSW Domestic Violence NSW

What if I told you I could show you, on paper, how a woman can lose her children for 119 days, hundreds of thousands of dollars, her business, two properties, a board position — and nearly everything she built — without ever committing a crime?
I’m going to show you exactly what happened when Family Court, AVOs, police, Child Support, AHPRA and professional complaints collided in one woman’s life.
This is what legal systems abuse looks like when you put ALL the receipts on the table. I’m still standing but I’m working hard to make sure this isn’t allowed to happen to any other man woman or child. The Lindsay Clancy case reminded me just how hard motherhood can be — and how dangerously alone a woman can become, even when she isn’t technically alone.
We keep saying “it takes a village” while watching mothers drown under exhaustion, guilt, work, babies, mental load and expectations no human being could meet.
So be the village: take her dinner, hold the baby, watch the kids, fold the washing — and instead of asking how the baby is, ask the mum if she’s okay. This isn’t a mum complaining this is a call to arms for the village. Women NSW

Gaslighting is when someone hurts you, lies about it, rewrites what happened — then watches you slowly lose your entire mind trying to prove the truth.
The day you stop defending your reality to someone committed to destroying it is the day they lose control over you and you can start living again. violence

One of the biggest mistakes I made after separation was believing I had to share Christmas, birthdays and every “special day” with the kids.
I don’t anymore.
Because if someone wants to control you, they don’t target ordinary Tuesdays—they target the days that matter most. In my experience, those were the days handovers didn’t happen, there was suddenly a flat tyre, no one answered the phone, or I was left not knowing where the children were. I eventually realised that the less power I gave those dates, the less they could be used to hurt me. And kids only care that they get to spend time feeling loved, regardless of the date. .

Thank you to everyone who reached out with support after yesterday’s post. ❤️The messages that stayed with me most were from people saying, “You just described my life.” Thank you for trusting me with your stories.
But can I ask one question?
Why would even one person question the victim’s state of mind when they speak about the effects of coercive control, instead of questioning the state of mind of the person choosing to abuse, manipulate and control another human being for years?
Maybe the real problem isn’t that survivors are finally speaking.
Maybe the real problem is that society still struggles to hear them.
