Weight management is honestly so much more complex than just “eat less and move more.”
There’s usually a lot happening underneath the surface — stress, hormones, thyroid function, inflammation, blood sugar, nervous system health… it all plays a role.
And what works for your body in your 20s is often very different to what works in perimenopause and menopause.
This is why so many women feel frustrated when they feel like they’re doing “all the right things” and the weight still won’t budge.
A few big things I always look at are:
• Muscle tone
Your muscles play a huge role in metabolism and even thyroid hormone activity.
And don’t worry — I’m not talking about smashing yourself at the gym.
Even regular walking and using your body more consistently helps.
• Hydration
So many women are running around dehydrated and exhausted.
Your body needs enough water for energy, detoxification, appetite control and healthy metabolism.
• Stress
This one is massive.
When your nervous system is stressed, your body becomes far more protective of energy and fat stores. It’s basically trying to keep you safe.
Sometimes the body just needs support and safety before it feels ready to let weight go.
Weight loss isn’t just about willpower.
Understanding what your body is dealing with changes everything.
