Introducing our new optometrist at Taree Eyewear, Shauna Elsworthy ✨ Shauna starts with us in early July which is very exciting!
Shauna grew up on the Central Coast of NSW and after high school attended the University of Newcastle where she completed a Bachelor of Biomedical Science. During that time she developed an interest in eyes and the visual system. She also wanted to do some travelling and so looked at Optometry courses available in the UK. There happened to be one available in the same small town as her maternal grandparents in Northern Ireland. In 2006, she graduated with Honours in Bachelor of Science in Optometry from the University of Ulster.

After this she moved to Hampshire in England for an optometrist position where she remained for four years. The pull of home became too much and she moved back to Australia in 2010. Shauna approached the optometrist practice that she attended as a child for a position, and has been there ever since.

Shauna’s family have since moved to the Mid-North Coast and she had decided to join them when the opportunity at Taree Eyewear became available. Shauna loves meeting new people, which is why she was drawn to optometry as a profession. She prides herself on providing exceptional, personalised care, and emphasises the importance of regular, comprehensive examinations for long term eye health. Shauna is really looking forward to joining the professional and knowledgeable team at Taree Eyewear to look after all your eye care needs.

To our loyal patients,

As some of you may already be aware, Dickon has made the decision to retire.

Dickon has been with Taree Eyewear for over 30 years now and the level of care and professionalism he has provided has been amazing. Every day he helped people see better, navigated eye disease and helped patients with licence checks, referrals and many other things. We wish Dickon all the best in his retirement.

The silver lining to this news is the position this change puts Taree Eyewear in, the opportunity to grow! Over the next couple of weeks, we’ll be expanding the optometry side of the business. All your records are still here but we’ll be adding new equipment, meaning more services and greater care available. Oh, and a fantastic, experienced optometrist to join the team (but more on that soon)!
