Those were some of the words from legendary commentator Stan Coombe following the historic inaugural Sun Cable Barkly Australian Football League Alcohol Free - Give Grog the Boot Senior Women’s Grand Final.
From a 3 match trial series between YDU & Spitfires, to Ali Curung & Canteen Creek joining for a pre-season trial day and onto a 9 round season with a preliminary final and grand final, we’ve seen over 140 participants and over 220 goals kicked.
With a YDU goal 12 seconds from full time levelling the scores, the match went into extra-time. After two 5 minute periods, we had our inaugural Senior Women’s Premiers - Ali Curung.
Eeliyah Brown (Ali Curung) was named Best On Ground.
