You don't have to navigate growing up alone. 💛

The teenage years can bring challenges that feel overwhelming—friendships, family changes, school pressures, anxiety, self-esteem, identity and everything in between.

At nurtured therapy, youth counselling provides a safe, supportive and non-judgemental space where young people can explore what's on their mind, develop practical coping strategies and build confidence in who they are.

Using evidence-informed, talk-based approaches including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and Narrative Therapy, alongside client-led expressive therapies, sessions are tailored to the unique needs and goals of each young person.

There is no pressure to have all the answers. Just a safe space to feel heard, understood and supported.

If you'd like to find out whether youth counselling is the right fit for your young person, I'd love to chat.

Growing up isn't always easy.

There are times when young people can feel overwhelmed by friendships, school, family changes, anxiety, self-doubt or simply trying to work out who they are.

Youth counselling provides a safe, supportive space where young people can talk openly, explore their thoughts and feelings, build confidence and develop practical strategies to navigate life's challenges.

At nurtured therapy, sessions are tailored to each young person's unique needs. Through talk-based approaches, including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy and client-led expressive therapies, young people are supported to better understand themselves, strengthen their emotional wellbeing and discover their own strengths and solutions.

I believe every young person deserves to feel heard, understood and accepted without judgement or pressure.

Children don't always have the words to explain what they're thinking, feeling or experiencing. Instead, they often communicate through play.

Play Therapy provides a safe, supportive and developmentally appropriate space where children can express emotions, explore experiences, build resilience and make sense of their world—all through their natural language of play.

At nurtured therapy, every session is child-led and grounded in a warm, trusting therapeutic relationship. Through play, children are supported to develop emotional awareness, confidence, problem-solving skills and healthier ways of coping with life's challenges.

Every child's story is unique, and every child's journey deserves to be heard.

Every child deserves a place where they don't have to pretend, perform or have all the answers.

A space where they can explore big feelings, discover their strengths, and build confidence.

At nurtured therapy, we believe meaningful change begins with connection. Through counselling and play, children and young people are supported to make sense of their experiences in ways that feel safe, developmentally appropriate and unique to them.

Because when children feel safe to just be you, growth naturally follows. 💛

So grateful for another inspiring week immersed in the world of Sandplay Therapy.

As therapists, we often ask our clients to slow down, become curious and trust the process of self-discovery. This week reminded me of the importance of doing the same ourselves.

Through creating my own sand trays, artwork and reflective practice, I was invited to notice the connection between my body, emotions and inner world. It's a powerful reminder that healing doesn't always come through words. Sometimes it emerges through symbols, creativity, silence and allowing the psyche the space to express itself.

Experiencing this process personally deepens my appreciation for the courage our clients bring into the therapy room and reinforces the importance of providing a safe, compassionate space where exploration can unfold at its own pace.

Professional development isn't just about learning new knowledge—it's about continuing our own growth so we can remain present, attuned and authentic in the work we do.

Feeling incredibly grateful to continue learning and bringing this richness back to the children, young people and families I have the privilege of supporting at nurtured therapy. 💛

Sometimes, the best way to support others is to keep learning yourself.

This week I'll be stepping away from the counselling room for a few days to complete Advanced Sandplay Therapy training. I'm looking forward to deepening my knowledge, continuing to grow as a therapist, and spending some time creating in the sand myself.

Sandplay is such a powerful way for children, young people and adults to express experiences that can be difficult to put into words. Every new insight and every opportunity to learn ultimately comes back into the therapy room to better support the clients and families I work with.

As Dora Kalff so beautifully said, "The healing process begins when the psyche is given the opportunity to express itself freely."

nurtured therapy will be closed this week while I attend training and will reopen the following week. I look forward to returning with fresh ideas, renewed inspiration and even more to offer the children, young people and families I have the privilege of working alongside.

One of my favourite deliveries has finally arrived!

Seeing these brochures and fact sheets come to life is such a special milestone for nurtured therapy.

Every page has been thoughtfully designed to help children, young people and families better understand who we are, what we do, and how counselling can support them through life's challenges.

I can't wait to start sharing these throughout our local community and continue raising awareness about the importance of early support, connection and emotional wellbeing.

I hope you love them as much as I do. 💚

Just be you.

Exciting professional development milestone! ✨

I'm so pleased to have completed the Circle of Security Facilitator Training, a course that has been on my professional development wish list for a long time.

The training not only expanded my knowledge but also affirmed and strengthened much of what I have come to understand through working alongside children and families over the years. One of the key messages that resonated deeply with me is that children don't need perfect parents—they need caregivers who are emotionally available, willing to repair when things go wrong, and committed to being a secure base from which their children can explore the world and a safe haven to return to when they need comfort.

As a counsellor and play therapist, I know how powerful secure relationships are in supporting children's emotional wellbeing, confidence, and resilience. I'm excited to begin integrating the Circle of Security principles into my work with children and families and, in the near future, to offer Circle of Security parenting groups through nurtured therapy.

I can't wait to share this evidence-based approach with the families I work alongside and continue supporting parents to better understand their child's emotional world and strengthen the connection they share.

Here's to lifelong learning and continually growing so we can better support the children and families who place their trust in us. 💛
