⚡ Radiotherapy
This localised treatment uses high-energy radiation to destroy any remaining cancer cells.

Side Effects: Commonly includes skin irritation, fatigue, and localised swelling.

🎯 Targeted Therapy
Unlike traditional chemotherapy, targeted therapy acts on specific features of cancer cells, such as unique genes or proteins, to block their growth.

Side Effects: Vary by drug, but frequently include skin rashes and gastrointestinal issues.

🏋️‍♀️ How Exercise Physiology Helps

Improve Tissue Mobility: Targeted movement helps reduce chest and shoulder tightness caused by radiation tissue changes or swelling.

Recharge Energy Levels: Structured physical activity is one of the most effective ways to counteract cumulative treatment fatigue.

Support Immune & Gut Health: Gentle, regular exercise assists in managing overall systemic side effects and improving well-being.

Continuing our look into breast cancer management,

🧬 Hormone Treatment
For hormone receptor-positive cancers, this treatment blocks the hormones that fuel cancer growth.
Common Medications: Tamoxifen or Aromatase Inhibitors.
Side Effects: Hot flashes, mood swings, and fatigue.

🛡️ Immunotherapy
This treatment harnesses your own immune system to fight cancer cells in both early and advanced stages.
Side Effects: Flu-like symptoms and immune-related organ issues.

🏋️‍♀️ How Exercise Physiology Helps
Certain hormone treatments can impact your bone density and cause joint stiffness.

Targeted resistance and aerobic exercise are clinically proven to:
1. Protect bone mineral density and strength.
2. Alleviate joint pain and stiffness.
3. Combat treatment-related fatigue.

Navigating a breast cancer diagnosis involves understanding various treatment pathways. Chemotherapy is often a primary component, using specific medications to target and eliminate rapidly dividing cancer cells.

One common approach is Neoadjuvant Chemotherapy, which is administered before surgery. The goal is to shrink tumours and improve the overall surgical outcome.

While these treatments are vital, they do come with significant side effects such as nausea, fatigue, and hair loss. Understanding these impacts is the first step in managing your quality of life during treatment.

Surgery removes the cancer, but what happens to your movement? 🎗️

Whether it’s a mastectomy or a lumpectomy, breast cancer surgery is a massive milestone on the road to recovery. But the journey doesn’t stop when you leave the operating theatre.

Many people are surprised by the post-surgery physical hurdles: Tightness and cording in the underarm, loss of shoulder range of motion, pain, swelling, and postural changes as the body heals.

"Returning to normal activities" sounds straightforward, but navigating how to safely lift your arm, carry groceries, or play with your kids again can be incredibly daunting.

We are here to bridge that gap. We understand the specific surgical impacts on your upper body. We guide you through gentle, evidence-based movement to reduce swelling and restore your mobility without compromising your healing.

When you look at the stats, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed by the numbers. But behind every statistic is a person, a family, and a unique recovery journey.

Breast cancer treatment takes a massive toll on the body, causing fatigue, muscle loss, and joint pain. That’s where specialised care makes all the difference.

At Strong and Stable, we have Exercise Physiologists (EPs) who have vast knowledge in oncology. We have an understanding of how cancer treatments affect your body, your energy, and your strength. We don't believe in generic workouts; we design safe, evidence-based movement plans tailored specifically to your stage of treatment or recovery.

You don’t have to navigate this alone. Let’s work together to help you feel strong, stable, and supported.

Energy is the essential foundation for everything from your daily functions and cellular metabolism to physical activity and brain power. If you're not fuelling adequately, you might notice increased fatigue, overall body weakness, and even stunted recovery after your workouts.

To keep your performance high, focus on consistent habits like eating regular meals, prioritising pre- and post-workout nutrition, and choosing small but powerful nutrient-dense foods.
