Elizabeth Trevan Our Funeral Director supported by Picaluna Our Funeral Director works in partnership with Picaluna Beautiful Funerals. The death of a loved one, whether sudden or expected, is always a difficult time.

Picaluna is a community of like minded people, helping families to create more authentic, compassionate and affordable cremations, burials and memorials. Picaluna felt that there was a much better way to conduct funerals, and are changing the way funerals are done for the better. This change is underpinned by their core purpose to help communities to honour, mourn, celebrate, heal and rejuvenate. Picaluna also chooses to donate 5% of their Service Fee to a charity of the family’s choice. The Picaluna partnership supports me in the logistics required to arrange and conduct a funeral; including transfers, registering the death with Births, Deaths & Marriages, access to a vast range of suppliers, mortuary care, and invoicing. This allows me to spend more time with you, crafting and delivering a personalised ceremony, authentic to the one you loved.

Some farewells feel as though every element has found exactly the right place. A location that held special meaning. Music that spoke straight to the heart. Words that captured a life lived with purpose, generosity and love.

Together, they became a beautiful reflection of a man who is so deeply missed by everyone fortunate enough to have known him.

It is always a privilege to help families create a ceremony that feels unmistakably like the person they are honouring.

When a place, a song and the stories shared come together so naturally, they become more than a farewell, they become a lasting celebration of a remarkable life.

There are some funerals that stay with us forever. Not because of their scale or grandeur, but because of the extraordinary humanity they reveal. The carefully chosen words that somehow find the hearts that need them most. The courage of those who stand to speak with such honesty, love and vulnerability. The quiet way a community gathers around one another, holding grief that no one person should have to carry alone.

These are the moments we have the privilege to witness in this work. Moments where compassion rises to meet heartbreak, where people reach for one another in the deepest of loss, and where love becomes something you can almost see and feel in the room.
They remind us that, even in our darkest moments, there is something profoundly beautiful about being human.

One of the great privileges of being a funeral director is witnessing the unexpected moments that no one could plan, yet somehow capture a person’s spirit perfectly.

At Andy’s funeral, his dear friend Angela ended her tribute with Queen’s Mr. Fahrenheit. As the music filled the church, the congregation clapped their hands in rhythm and one of Andy’s lifelong friends began dancing in the aisle with our eulogist.

In that spontaneous moment, there was grief, joy, laughter, and decades of friendship all wrapped into one.

It was a beautiful reminder that while funerals mark the end of a life, they also reveal the enduring love, connection and community that remain. Bitter-sweet to witness for someone I loved dearly, and a moment I will never forget.

After more than twenty years as a funeral celebrant, one truth continues to guide me:
when someone dies, the people who matter most are those left behind. Their voices matter. Their stories matter.
This farewell for David wasn’t a traditional service. It was a circle of storytelling — a space to reflect, to laugh, to remember, to raise a glass.
The family asked me not to “lead”, but to gently facilitate… to ask the questions, to hold the space, to help the stories unfold.
What a privilege to be trusted in that way.
To witness the love in the room.
To honour a truly wonderful father, grandfather, community member — and beautiful human being.

Seven days in to my month-long fundraising journey for charity partner, by taking part in Surfebruary 🏄‍♀️

Surfebruary is a joyful, slightly wild, and very meaningful February tradition, where participants raise funds for cancer research by catching a wave or getting in the water every single day, rain, hail or shine.

It began with a small group of people who shared two things:
a deep love of the ocean, and a belief in giving back — inspired by the ocean’s powerful, grounding, transformative magic 🌊💙

The challenge?
Getting in the water every day.
The real catch?
1️⃣ Surf conditions
2️⃣ Bravery
3️⃣ And the occasional fear of getting your toes nibbled 😬

So while this might look like joy (and it is), your support could absolutely be considered a “danger donation” 😉

Every dollar raised supports the extraordinary work of Chris O’Brien Lifehouse, and I’ll be doing my part, showing up, getting salty, and honouring the healing power of the sea.

With heartfelt gratitude to the families who entrusted me with the care, guidance and support of their loved ones at the very beginning of their grief journey this year.

It is a profound privilege to walk alongside you in moments of loss, love and remembrance.

Thank you also to my colleagues and trusted suppliers…compassionate professionals and true teammates, whose care, skill and quiet strength make this work possible.

As we carry these lives, stories and legacies forward, we step into 2026 with continued care, presence and respect 🤍

So much thought and care went into Robyn’s funeral. As the Funeral Director and Celebrant, the family had me on ‘speed-dial’… so much so, they called my number to order Chinese Takeaway the other night.

Fortunately, that’s not my speciality. 🍜😜

All my worlds collided…right in the heart… with this gig.

As a marriage celebrant, 10 years ago I married Kimberly & Stuart.

As a Funeral Director & Celebrant I walked alongside them when their 3 year old, Zoe, died from a heart condition.

As an MC at this fundraising event, I stood alongside my lifelong friend and CEO of Heart Kids,

& Stuart and Zoe’s little sister Abby were there too…for Heart Kids.

Such an extraordinary coming-together from the community for such a well-deserving charity and for all the beautiful work they do.
