Winter Foot Care: More than just thick socks. ❄️
During the colder months, feet are often tucked away in heavy footwear. This dark, enclosed environment can increase the risk of fungal infections or exacerbate issues like ingrown toenails and callus build-up.
Maintaining foot health in winter is key to identifying potential issues early. Our Podiatrists offer General Treatments to assess skin and nail health, providing professional management for your comfort and wellbeing.
Don't wait for symptoms to progress. Book a clinical assessment with our team today to ensure your feet remain healthy throughout the season.

Diabetes & Your Feet: Why the Annual Check Matters 🩺
For those living with diabetes, foot health is a critical part of overall wellbeing. Over time, elevated blood glucose levels can affect the nerves and blood circulation in the lower limbs.
Because these changes can happen gradually, you may not always notice small injuries, blisters, or temperature changes. A professional assessment is designed to identify these risks early.

What happens during a Diabetes Foot Assessment?
Our Podiatrists perform a non-invasive clinical screening which includes:
- Vascular Assessment: Checking pulses and blood flow to the feet.
- Neurological Screening: Testing for "protective sensation" to ensure you can feel pressure or injury.
- Dermatological Review: Inspecting the skin for corns, calluses, or dryness that could lead to breakdown.
- Footwear Education: Reviewing your daily shoes to ensure they provide adequate protection.

We recommend that all people with diabetes have a comprehensive foot assessment at least once every 12 months. If you have identified risk factors, we may recommend more frequent monitoring. Regular checks are a proactive way to manage your health.

Meet Zac! 👋
We are thrilled to have Zac as part of the Pivot Podiatry team!

He utilises advanced techniques to support patient recovery, including:
✅ Dry needling & myofascial cupping
✅ Soft tissue injury management

Why your heels might feel drier lately... 👣
The cooler air and indoor heating can strip moisture from our skin, often leading to dry, thickened skin or even painful cracked heels.
While it’s tempting to manage this at home with a pumice stone, aggressive filing can sometimes cause further irritation or skin damage. For a safer, more effective result, a general skin treatment with a podiatrist allows for the professional removal of built-up callous and an assessment of the underlying cause of the dryness.
Keep your feet hydrated this winter by applying a urea-based cream daily—just remember to avoid the spaces between your toes!

We’re back on the sidelines with Maitland Blacks Netball Club for the 2026 season!

Mark your calendars for August 30. 🗓️

This year, our owner and principal podiatrist, Nicholas, is taking on a new challenge: the Sydney Marathon on August 30 and while 42.2km is a big physical challenge, the motivation behind it is even bigger.

This run is personal. After seeing close family and friends touched by breast cancer, Nicholas wanted to do more than just offer his support—he wanted to help fuel the research that changes the future for everyone affected by this disease. 🎀

We need your help to reach our fundraising goal. Every dollar donated goes directly toward clinical trials that help discover better treatments and, ultimately, a cure.

How you can support:
💗 Click the link to visit our official fundraising page. https://sm26.grassrootz.com/breast-cancer-trials/nicholas-howell
💗 Every donation, no matter the size, makes a massive impact.
💗 Share this post to help us spread the word!

Let’s get Nicholas across that finish line and raise as much as we can for this incredible cause. 🎀

Stay tuned as we share his journey to the finish line 👟

We are thrilled to announce that we’ve teamed up with Thornton Junior Football Club as a sponsor again for the 2026 season!
Supporting our local sporting community is a huge part of what we do. We love seeing so many young players staying active, learning new skills, and hitting the pitch with confidence. To all the players, coaches, and families—we hope you have a fantastic, injury-free season. We’ll be cheering for you from the sidelines!

Dealing with a painful or persistent ingrown toenail? 🦶
An ingrown toenail occurs when the edge of the nail grows into the surrounding skin, leading to redness, swelling, and discomfort. If left unmanaged, these can become increasingly painful or lead to localised infection.
There are many causes for this condition, including trimming techniques, footwear pressure, or natural nail shape.

Our Podiatrists provide assessment and clinical care in a sterile environment to manage these concerns safely, with management options at our clinic including:
- Conservative Clinical Care: Professional clearing of the nail edge and advice on preventative home care.
- Onyfix Nail Bracing: A composite material that is applied to the nail to gently and painlessly correct its shape as it grows.
- Education: Guidance on correct nail-cutting techniques and footwear fitting.
- Surgical Assessment: For chronic or recurring cases, we can discuss permanent solutions, such as minor nail surgery (Partial Nail Avulsion) under local anaesthetic.
Note: Any surgical or invasive procedure carries risks. A professional consultation is required to determine if this is the right option for you.
