Happy Frii-yaaay SaB!! ποΈββοΈ
How do you not get sore? I move my body!
Now - I'll be honest, I do not get excited by weight training the way that I do by heading to Dynamic & hitting the bags for an hour π₯ ..it just doesn't give me that same high...BUT I see what's happening around me and I trick myself into doing it because not doing it long-term is not an option.
I put my fav workout music on or go with a buddy for a slower goss session and I give my body the love it needs to get to 80/90 with the best chance of surviving a fall, of being able to remain independent. What I see around me is scary!
HUGE issues coming through the ranks...men and women whose bodies are broken long before they are meant to be.
Early onset Osteoporosis, Osteopenia.
Loss of mobility to drive safely.
Not being able to get up if you fall.
Not being able to stand up out of a chair without buckling at the hips, & it's actually very confronting.
To have 80year olds on my table regularly who have less health issues than 45-60year olds is scary... Our lifestyles can now be incredibly sedentary and let me assure you, it matters! It is changing your body and it's not something you should ignore until it's too late.
You have to remember to MOVE YOUR BODY in a way that promotes bone growth, mobility , functional strength, and you have to do it before you're trying to backtrack because not everything can be backtracked.
The flipside of the coin working with older clients is seeing those who did not look after their bodies, who look at the ground when they walk due to poor posture causing permanent structural changes, who struggle with the loss of independence, their body not working the way it could - it's actually a very real threat to all of us in the + 30/40 category.
Add in 1 weight training & mobility session this week - Your 80year old self *NEEDS you to do it it.
