We recently welcomed our valued supporters to a donor appreciation high tea, bringing the community together to recognise and celebrate their generous support.

Guests heard from diabetes bursary recipient Jubin Jose, who spoke about the importance of diabetes education, and from Dr Kristen Moloney, Gynaecologist and Gynaecologic Oncologist, who shared insights into innovation, kindness in care and the future of gynaecologic cancer treatment.

We extend our sincere thanks to all who attended and to every supporter whose generosity continues to make a meaningful and lasting impact. 🙏

At 45, Andrew was fit, active, and healthy.

He never expected to be told he had advanced prostate cancer and needed surgery to save his life.

Every day, more Queenslanders receive life‑changing diagnoses like this.

With your support, The Wesley Hospital can continue providing the life‑saving care, technology and compassion patients and families rely on.

A tower crane has risen above the site of The Wesley Expansion project this month, marking another major milestone as construction begins to transition vertically. With excavation of the building’s three basement levels also now well underway, progress is continuing to move at pace.

Once complete, the new 10-storey medical services building will deliver six new operating theatres, expanded radiation oncology facilities, and clinician suites – central to realising our vision of creating Queensland's largest private comprehensive cancer centre. A covered pedestrian footbridge will connect the new facility directly to our existing hospital campus, with parking for 200 vehicles.

Set to open in late 2028, we are proud to work together with our partners to deliver this landmark project – one that represents a significant investment in the care of our patients, community, and the future of healthcare in Queensland.

If you’d like to learn more or express interest in the project, please get in touch with our project team by registering your details at https://www.wesley.com.au/about-us/the-wesley-expansion

Our allied health team got an extra boost of motivation and energy when UnitingCare CEO Ben Edwards joined them for an early morning round of push-ups this month! 💪🙌💜

It's a fun way to start to the day, but the purpose behind it matters most. We couldn’t be prouder of Team Wesley, who are once again taking on The Push-Up Challenge for Lifeline Queensland.

The challenge helps create important conversations about mental wellbeing and raises vital funds to support the lifesaving work of our colleagues at Lifeline Queensland through their crisis support and su***de prevention services.

Together, the team have already completed more than 12,000 push-ups while supporting this important cause. If you can, please back Team Wesley with a donation. Every bit helps them reach their goal. Donate here: https://bit.ly/4v2m7HP

A bright new chapter begins for Wesley kids! 🌈💜

This month, we proudly opened our newly renovated children’s ward. Blending colour and creativity with high-quality care, the new ward also honours the rich history of the service, with much-loved features like the iconic farmyard mural thoughtfully preserved and reimagined in the new space.

These cherished elements were made possible by the generosity of Heather and Malcolm Reid and the Reid family, in memory of their daughter, Jodie – a deeply valued colleague, friend and Registered Nurse at The Wesley. Heather and Malcolm kindly joined us this month for a dedication and blessing of the new ward.

Wesley General Manager, Jason Burton, said the new ward reflects the hospital’s longstanding commitment to caring for children and families.

“In keeping with our mission to care for patients for life, The Wesley has proudly cared for children and young people for decades,” Jason said.

“We extend our sincere gratitude to everyone who has helped make this new ward possible. In particular, we recognise and thank Heather and Malcolm Reid, whose ongoing generosity has helped ensure our paediatric wards continue to be the very best they can be.”

This National Reconciliation Week, we’re proud to continue turning commitment into action at the Wesley.

We are delighted to share our new Road to Recovery MediCurtains — designed by Balladong, Binjarep, Widi, Ballaruk and Budimia artist Biara Martin, symbolising resilience, community and the healing journey.

At the heart of this powerful design lies a gathering place, representing connection and support. Surrounding it, kangaroos and emus signify nourishment, waterholes reflect life, and stars mark a place of rest. Dotted tracks trace the patient’s path to recovery, while intricate line work embodies ancestral wisdom and the guiding presence of Elders. Inspired by the strength of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, these striking curtains create a calming, culturally safe and welcoming space, fostering inclusion and enhancing wellbeing in healthcare settings.

These curtains help to create a culturally safe and welcoming environment for First Nations patients, families and communities — where everyone feels seen, respected and supported.

We’re proud to share that the UnitingCare Queensland and Fluent partnership has been recognised as Team of the Year (Qld) at the Property Council of Australia People in Property Awards for their work on The Wesley Hospital Expansion.

This recognition reflects the strength of true partnership – where teams come together with a shared purpose to deliver something meaningful for our community.

Together, we are progressing The Wesley Hospital Expansion, a $250 million investment and the largest healthcare project in UnitingCare’s history. Now in construction, this milestone represents a significant step forward in expanding access to world-class care.

What makes this achievement so special is the way it has been delivered – through genuine collaboration:

✅ Aligning property expertise with frontline clinical insight
✅ Making thoughtful, shared decisions across care, commercial and delivery priorities
✅ Staying focused and disciplined in a complex environment

This expansion will grow specialist services for our community, including Brisbane’s largest private comprehensive cancer service and new day surgery facilities – creating more connected, compassionate care for patients and their families.

We’re deeply grateful to our teams and partners who continue to bring this vision to life.

Congratulations to all finalists – and thank you to everyone involved in this important work.
