Today’s Reflection. A whale was sighted at White Beach Tasmania today!! Yay.

Sometimes the kindest people become exhausted because they confuse loving someone with carrying them.

We can care deeply about someone’s feelings without becoming responsible for them.

We can say no without being cruel.
We can be tired without being selfish.
We can have boundaries without rejecting someone.

We can choose ourselves sometimes and still be loving people.

Healthy relationships allow room for disappointment. They allow each person to have needs, limits, friendships, family, rest and independence.

When someone responds to our boundaries with anger, guilt, withdrawal or silence, we can find ourselves rushing to make things right, even when we haven't actually done anything wrong.

And slowly, we may learn that keeping the peace means abandoning ourselves.
Perhaps one of the most important lessons we can learn is this:
I can love you without managing your emotions.

I can care about you without carrying you.
And I don't have to feel guilty for having needs of my own.

Sometimes healing is learning that a boundary isn't a rejection.

It's simply the place where I end and you begin.

Today's Reflection

Many of our clients begin therapy feeling frustrated with the different parts of themselves.

They may dislike the part that becomes angry, the part that shuts down, the part that feels needy, or the part that is always waiting for something bad to happen.

But these parts did not develop to make life difficult. They often formed during painful or overwhelming experiences and learned ways to protect the person when they had very few other options.

In therapy, I encourage my clients to become curious rather than critical.

Instead of asking, “What is wrong with me?” we begin asking:

“What happened to this part?”

“What is it afraid of?”

“What does it need from me now?”

Nurturing our parts may involve speaking gently to a younger wounded part, reassuring a frightened part that the danger has passed, setting boundaries for an angry protector, or simply sitting with a part that has felt ignored for many years.

Healing does not mean forcing our parts to disappear.

It means helping them feel safe enough that they no longer have to work so hard to protect us.

When we learn to respond to ourselves with compassion, patience and understanding, our inner world slowly becomes less like a battlefield and more like a place of connection.

Every part deserves to be heard.

Every part deserves kindness.

And every part deserves to know that it is no longer alone.

There was a time when you believed parts of yourself were the problem.

The angry part. The anxious part. The people-pleasing part. The part that pushes everyone away. The part that never feels good enough.

But what if none of those parts were ever your enemy?

What if they were simply doing the best they could to protect you?

The angry part may have learned that anger was safer than vulnerability. The anxious part may have spent years trying to keep you safe from danger. The people-pleasing part may have discovered that love felt conditional. The numb part may have stepped in when feeling became too painful.

Healing isn't about getting rid of these parts. It's about helping them realise that the danger has passed.

When we meet our parts with curiosity instead of criticism, something beautiful begins to happen. The parts that once screamed for attention slowly begin to trust. They soften. They no longer have to work so hard.

You don't heal by fighting yourself. You heal by learning to love every part of you that worked so hard to survive.

Today, if a difficult part shows up, instead of asking, "What's wrong with me?" try asking, "What happened to you, and what do you need from me today?"

Sometimes the greatest act of healing is becoming the safe person your younger parts have been waiting for all along.

Be gentle with every part of yourself today

Today’s Reflection. This is currently happening with one of my DID clients.

Sometimes in therapy, progress does not look like “getting better” in the way people expect.
Sometimes progress looks like the system finally feeling safe enough to stop hiding.
For clients with Dissociative Identity Disorder, parts may have spent years staying silent, masked, hidden, or protected. Not because they were not there, but because it was not yet safe enough to be seen.
When new alters begin to emerge after years of therapy, this is not necessarily regression. It can be a sign of trust. It can mean the internal system is beginning to believe, “Maybe we do not have to do this alone anymore.”
Each part has a reason for existing. Each part has carried something, protected something, survived something, or held pain that was too much for one person to hold.
Meeting new parts requires patience, respect, curiosity, and gentleness. There is no rushing. No forcing. No needing every answer at once.
Healing in DID is not about pushing parts away. It is about helping the whole system feel safer, more understood, and less alone.
Sometimes the greatest sign of safety is when the hidden parts finally step forward.

Today’s Reflection
Today my heart is heavy.
A good friend told me that her doctors have said she may only have 18 months to live. Moments like this stop everything. The small worries, the rushing, the endless tasks, they suddenly feel less important.
Life is so fragile.
We often think we have time. Time to say what we feel. Time to forgive. Time to visit. Time to love properly. Time to live more gently.
But none of us really know how much time we have.
Today I am reminded to hold people closer. To speak with kindness. To stop waiting for the “right time” to show love. To be present with the people who matter.
Sometimes there are no perfect words. Just presence. Just love. Just sitting beside someone in the hardest chapter of their life and letting them know they are not alone.
May we all remember what matters before life forces us to.
The image attached was made and given to me just to say i mattered in his life. I think we should all show the people we love that they matter

Today’s Reflection after one of my patients took tome off work, practicing self compassion and todays hes back at university feeling more balanced.

Healing is not always about feeling strong.
Sometimes healing is simply noticing that you are tired, overwhelmed, or triggered and choosing not to abandon yourself in that moment.
For many people with trauma, the nervous system learned to survive by pushing through, shutting down, pleasing others, or staying silent. These responses were not weakness. They were protection.
But as healing begins, there is a gentle shift.
You may start to ask:
What do I need right now?
Is this mine to carry?
Can I pause before I react?
Can I offer compassion to the part of me that is struggling?
Small moments of awareness matter.
Small acts of kindness toward yourself matter.
Small boundaries matter.
Healing does not mean you never get triggered.
It means you are slowly learning that you are no longer alone inside your own experience.

You can pause.
You can breathe.
You can listen inward.
You can come back to yourself, one small step at a time.
