A very busy little boy who I still find in these sweet little moments. What you can’t hear is his cute little voice telling bits of the story. Such a sweet (and exhausting) age!

As with most things, eating wholefoods, staying hydrated, daily movement and being out in nature are amazingly healing for many dis-eases that we find ourselves with. It doesn't need to be complicated, I don't think it was ever meant to be.

Someone who beautifully demonstrates this is the old classic Dorothy Hall book, 'The Natural Health Book'. She beautifully encapsulates how food can heal us.

If we fill our bodies with all the ingredients that fuel its function, it makes it so much easier for it to run smoothly.

I have had far too much sugar and chocolate lately and I need to reign it in 🤪. As I have been speaking about a bit recently, my hair feels like it changed a lot since having Noah, whilst I have since changed my haircare routine (and loving it-who knew using the right products on your hair could make such a difference), I am also looking again and what supports me internally so that my hair will naturally be healthy and vibrant.

🦚Scroll through to see a few nutrients and wholefoods that can support your hair health and even maybe reverse grey hair (not that there is anything wrong with greying hair) if you are finding you are prematurely greying.

The introduction of solids can be an interesting journey, for us it's been a little slower as Noah gains interest in eating. Some days I wake up and think, "Oh gosh, what to feed him today." 🤪

Here are some of the more 'random' foods I am offering Noah regularly to support his nutrition, growth and development and hopefully broaden his palette, although sometimes I think, "Hope he doesn't mind there's avocado and sweet potato or quinoa involved in his meal . . .again!".

What's your go to foods with your baby?

This is actually true, crazy hey! Their little bodies are growing and developing at such a rapid pace their iron requirements need to keep up.

Scroll through above for the WHY and what foods can help support babies iron needs.

Whilst it is a good goal to try and include an iron rich food every day, I don't always succeed at this with Noah but it is good to have it in mind to try and include them as often as possible.

We've all heard of antibiotics, but what is natures antibiotic?

G A R L I C . It fights all types of infections —fungal, bacterial, parasitic, and viral.

This is why Garlic is wonderful in improving immune function. It is a great natural remedy for bad coughs and sinus infections. If you feel a cold coming on, eat garlic.

How to include it in your diet?

- Fresh homemade salsa : tomatoes, garlic, onion, coriander, lime juice, olive oil, salt, chilli

- Add to your soups

- Roast it. It makes it yummy and sweet.

- For medicinal doses to boost your immune system, you can chop it up small and put it with some raw local honey on a spoon and swallow whole.
*This saves the chewing as it can be quite spicy.

How do you like to have garlic? 🧄

Get the shot glasses ready. One for the adults . . . 🍹

Here in Australia we are moving towards winter, its darker, colder and the air conditioner has been switched off and the wood fires are burning. Well at least down here in Victoria.

This can also mean more colds are going around. If you start to feel that niggly sore scratchy throat or tickley cough, I've got the remedy for you.

F I R E T O N I C 🔥

There are several different variations to this but the general gist is this, combine the following ingredients for an immune boosting, microbe fighting powerhouse remedy you can make easily at home.

- 1/2 cup freshly peeled and grated ginger root
- 1/2 cup freshly grated horseradish root
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 10 cloves of garlic, crushed or chopped
- 2 organic jalapeño peppers, chopped
- 1 lemon, zest and juice
- 1 Tablespoon turmeric powder or 2 Tablespoons freshly grated turmeric root
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne powder
- organic unfiltered apple cider vinegar
- 1/4 cup raw honey, or to taste

You can adjust the quantities to your spicy-ness preference.

Add all the ingredients into a glass jar, except the honey. Leave for 4-6 weeks, shaking daily. After around 1 month, strain the liquid off and add the honey. You can then have 1-2 tbs when you feel a cold coming on or as a preventative. Keep in the fridge.

Hummus can be a simple (yet YUMMY) way to get some calcium goodness into your day!

Sesame seeds are rich in calcium. Tahini, used in hummus is made of sesame seeds

Here is a quick yummy recipe. You can play around with the quantity / consistency to find the right mix for you.

2 x 400 g cans cooked chickpeas
2-3 cloves garlic
5-10 tbs olive oil
1/2 cup tahini
1/2 tsp ground cumin
2 lemons juiced
salt, according to taste

Blend it all together.

I like to top mine with a sprinkle of smoked paprika and a little olive oil. Dukkah is also very yummy! And serve with raw veggies cut up such as carrot, capsicum, celery, brocolli, snap peas etc.

Also very yummy with a warm quinoa roast veggie salad such as pumpkin, parsnip, beetroot, cauliflower, capsicum, brussel sprouts, kale etc with some roasted almonds crunched on top, some spinach mixed in and a drizzle of olive oil and lemon juice!

Another calcium rich meal (that has nothing to do with hummus) could be, baked salmon (with the bones), with bok choy, broccoli, sesame seeds with some roasted almonds on top!

Whose hungry now? 🤤

🍁 Our bodies are so clever the way they shift and change to meet the different needs we have.⠀
⠀
Calcium absorption doubles during pregnancy to meet your growing babies requirement for calcium, but this doesn't really start until the third trimester. This is because about 80% of babies calcium stores are built during the final 6 weeks of pregnancy for babies bone 🦴 health and cardiac function 💓⠀
⠀
If you are deficient in calcium - the body will pull it from your bones to ensure baby gets what they need. Unfortunately, not so great for mum as this can weaken her bones. But the body works to help support your calcium levels as best it can by improving your ability to absorb calcium from food much better than you do when you aren't pregnant. Have a read through the list of calcium rich foods to give you some ideas of foods to include in your daily meals ➡️➡️➡️
⠀
Check back in tomorrow for some yummy calcium rich recipe ideas! 🕰️
