There are some things in our lives that change us.
That are perhaps are a part of an initiation into becoming more of who we really are.
I’ll use motherhood from my own journey as an example or maybe my divorce. I will never again be the person I was before I had my girls, nor will I be the person I was when I was married.
Everything becomes different when you cross a threshold, the old identity dies and a new one begins.
That can be bittersweet, there is growth in the new, but also sometimes grief in knowing that what was will never be the same again.
Sometimes we know that threshold is coming, we can be prepared for the change. Yet sometimes it something unexpected that creates that ending of what was, and the beginning of the new way of being.
And when that happens there can be a freeze, a wishing for what was, a fear of moving forward, or a displacement created by the inability to fully recognise yourself in the new way of functioning.
I’ve been looking recently at the thresholds I’ve crossed in my life, and I’ve come to see that while I am no longer those versions of me, I carry the wisdom gained from what those versions lived through.
That is something I am grateful for.
There is no forged path to becoming the new version of yourself after crossing a threshold. That is a unique journey each of us must have by being in flow with what the Universe is supporting us to become.
What I can tell you is, any threshold you’ve crossed is one that is conducive to your growth, and will gift you much wisdom if you don’t stay stuck in the illusion of loss of what has been left behind.
So trust everything is happening for you, take the next step and discover what your choices are driving you to become.
