Adults with ADHD often have difficulty concentrating for long periods of time, are easily distracted, or might act or speak before thinking things through. While we might all have these difficulties from time to time, people with ADHD have significant and ongoing difficulties in these areas, which can affect their broader lives, particularly their study, work and relationships.1

About 2 to 3% of adults are diagnosed with ADHD. While ADHD begins in childhood and symptoms typically improve as children get older, about 15% continue to have ADHD as adults.

National Reconciliation Week
27 May - 3 June

National Reconciliation Week (NRW) is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia.

At its heart, reconciliation is about strengthening relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and non-Indigenous peoples, for the benefit of all Australians.

Children who spend more time playing adventurously have lower symptoms of anxiety and depression, and were happier over the first Covid-19 lockdown, according to new research.

The research was carried out with two groups of parents: a group of 427 parents living in Northern Ireland and a nationally representative group of 1919 parents living in Great Britain (England, Wales and Scotland).

Researchers found that children who spend more time playing outside had fewer "internalising problems" -- characterised as anxiety and depression. Those children were also more positive during the first lockdown.

Can Art Therapy help with mental health issues?

'Research shows 1 in 5 of us will experience a mental health condition at some point in our life and while that sounds pretty grim, what if there were an uplifting and affordable way to potentially counteract this — that doesn't need words and can provide space instead?

Art is helping empower people living with a mental illness; from first responders and veterans using art to cope with PTSD to legendary musician, and Stolen Generations survivor Archie Roach, who uses the power of music to help him heal. ''

How creative arts are helping empower people living with a mental illness.

Happy International Men's Day!

International Men’s Day (IMD) is celebrated on 19 November every year and is marked in around 80 countries worldwide.

Some people ask why we need an International Men’s Day? In Australia, IMD is a great opportunity to take part in a global conversation about manhood, masculinity and men’s issues by:

-Highlighting some of the social issues than men and boys face

-Making a difference for the men and boys in your community

-Celebrating men and boys in all their diversity

Many people also use the day to highlight some of the key social issues that men and boys around the world face. In Australia, these “men’s issues” include the fact that:

-3 out of 4 suicides are men
-2 out of 3 violent deaths are men
-Boys underperform girls at every stage of education
-Dads who want to be more involved in their children’s lives face a range of barriers
