When does a child’s symptom cross the line from watch and wait to get help now?

A fever, a rash, breathing that looks hard work, or a child who seems floppy or hard to wake can all mean it’s time to act sooner.

For babies under 3 months, don’t wait it out. For older children, look at the whole picture, how they’re coping, how alert they are, and whether things are getting worse.

What should you grab first if your child gets hurt at home?

Many parents think babyproofing starts with the obvious items. But the everyday things you already use are often worth a second look.

Loose cords, low drawers, heavy furniture, and small objects can all become quick risks when little hands start exploring.

A fever can look scary. What matters most is how your child is acting, breathing, and drinking.

If they’re still fairly alert, taking fluids, and settling with comfort, that tells you more than the number on the thermometer.

Look for the simple stuff first: wet nappies, sips of breast milk, formula, or water, and any new symptoms that appear.

Is your little one experiencing regular hospital visits. This book might be just for them❤️

✨ MY NEW BOOK IS OFFICIALLY HERE! ✨

I am so incredibly proud to introduce my newest children’s book…

🏥🤍 THE HOSPITAL THAT HELPS 🤍🏥

This book was written for the little ones who know hospital corridors, appointments, procedures and medical equipment far more than any child should have to.

Created from our own experiences navigating the medical world, my hope is that this book helps children understand that while hospitals can sometimes feel scary, they are also filled with people who are there to help, care for and keep them safe.

My biggest dream is to see The Hospital That Helps in hospitals, waiting rooms, kindergartens and in the hands of families across Australia who might need a little extra reassurance during some of their hardest days. 🤍

To every little hospital warrior and medical family — this one is for you. 🥹

What’s the first thing you’d want to know if your child needed help fast on a weekend away?

A little preparation goes a long way. When you know the basics before you pack the car, you’re not scrambling for answers in the moment.

Baby first aid is one of those habits that gives families real peace of mind.

Share this with a parent who’s heading away soon.

Dark yellow or brown urine can be an early clue that your child needs fluids sooner.

Also watch for fewer wet nappies, dry lips, or a dry mouth. Those small changes can show up before things escalate.

Remember, it should be pale yellow.

When a child starts vomiting or seems suddenly off, parents often miss dehydration.

Don’t wait for it to look dramatic. Check for fewer wet nappies, dry lips and mouth, no tears when crying, and sunken eyes.

Small, frequent sips of oral rehydration are the priority. Sugary drinks and fruit juice can make diarrhoea worse.

What would you do first for a scraped knee, or a playdate mishap happened when you least expected it?

Those little moments can turn stressful fast. A calm first aid routine helps you know what to do first, so you can respond with confidence instead of panic.

From in home accidents to playground mishaps, the hidden risks are often the ones parents don’t see coming.
