First up in our series celebrating OTs doing amazing things is HELD, created by Jess from The OT Room and Dani from Conscious Heart Awakening.
HELD is a six-session restorative experience for mothers and maternal caregivers raising children with neurodivergence, disability or developmental delays.
Through our work supporting children, we see the toll caring can take on mothers and maternal caregivers. We also see how little time and support is directed towards them as people, rather than only in their role as carers.
What a wonderful idea to create a space where mothers can find that support and build a community together.
Jess shared:
“HELD is something Dani and I are incredibly passionate about, and we’re so excited to finally be bringing it to life. Our hope is to create a space where mothers feel seen, supported and leave with a greater understanding of themselves, alongside practical tools they can take into everyday life.”
This is such a thoughtful example of recognising what a community needs, bringing different perspectives together and creating something new in response.
Congratulations to Jess and Dani on bringing HELD to life. We’re looking forward to seeing where it goes 💚
You spend so much time making sure everyone else is ok. But when was the last time someone asked...
How are YOU?
HELD wasn't created because mothers need more to do.
It was created because we believe mothers deserve a space where they can feel supported too.
If this resonates with you, we'd love to hear from you.
