“I can’t do this.”

The words tear through the room.

And then—

she does.

She breaks open.
Raw.
Wild.
Unrecognisable.

And somewhere in the wreckage of who she was before,
she meets herself.

I just did that.

The beauty of birth.
Not in the tameness of it—

but in the breaking open.

Birth is wild.

Stop asking women to make it look graceful.

Wild women birth.
Wild babies are born.
Wild mothers emerge.

Somewhere along the way, many of us learnt to make ourselves smaller.

To smile when we felt unsure.

To stay quiet when we had questions.

To second-guess ourselves.

To worry about being “too much.”

Then we become pregnant.

And suddenly we’re expected to trust ourselves, make informed decisions, and advocate for our bodies and our babies.

That’s no small ask.

If no one has told you this lately…

You are allowed to ask another question.

You are allowed to ask for more time.

You are allowed to change your mind.

You are allowed to say, “That doesn’t feel right for me.”

You are allowed to take up space.

Pregnancy, birth and motherhood aren’t about becoming a quieter version of yourself.

Perhaps they’re an invitation to come home to the woman you’ve always been.

A woman whose voice matters.

Every single time.

Imagine the stories I could tell… if I had my own Netflix documentary 🎬

The things I have seen in ordinary homes at extraordinary hours…

Women roaring their babies earthside.
Partners crying before they even meet their baby.
Families becoming four at 3am.
Babies born into pools, bedrooms, gardens, and the quietest corners of the world.

No drama manufactured.
No storyline needed.

Just the raw, wild, beautiful reality of physiological birth.

Honestly Netflix… you couldn’t write this script.

(And yes, I have receipts… but midwives know the best stories are the ones we’re trusted to hold, not share.) 🤍

People often ask what the best part of this work is.

It’s not the gifts (although I genuinely treasure every card, every letter, every thoughtful gesture).

It’s the stories.

The ones I get invited into.
The ones that change people.
The ones that are carried long after the birth is over.

I get to witness women meet versions of themselves they never knew existed. I watch families be born. I hold space through fear, surrender, joy, grief, laughter, and the kind of love that leaves a room forever changed.

Those stories don’t stay in the birth space.

I carry little pieces of them with me.

And that is the greatest privilege of all.

Because this work has never just been about “catching babies”.

It’s always been about holding women and their families.
